NECKWEAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented aan. i, isis.
Application led February 14,1917. Serial No. 148,548.
Improvements in Neckwear, of which the following is a speciiication.
My invention relates to neck wear and has for its objects; first, to providea collar and tie which is adapted to be easily put on and taken od', second, to provide a collar and tie which may be worn without the least discomfort.
Vith these and other objects in view which will be hereinafter fully described and pary ticularly pointed out in the claims, my invention consists iii the novel arrangement and construction of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings7 in which Figure 1 is a front view of a collar and tie embodying my invention7 Fig. 2 is a rear View thereof,
Fig. 3 is a view of the collar flattened out to show the general formation of the same,
Fig. 4L is a detail sectional view of one end of said collar and tie,
Fig. 5 is a detail view of a portion of the tie,
Fig. 6 is a detail view of a button used in the preferred embodiment of my invention.
In the drawings 1 designates generally a collar, and 2 designates generally a tie. The collar is composed of a neck-band 3 and turned-over members t, of which there are two, disposed one on each side of the collar, and which have their front ends spaced apart as designated at 5 to accommodate the tie as will be hereinafter described. The space 5 is disposed at the front of the collar, and a button-hole 6 is formed in the neckband 3 at this point to engage a button 7 of the shirt of usual construction. Directly above the button-hole 6 another button-hole 8 is formed in the neck-band 3 for purposes hereinafter described. The neck-band 3 eX- tends around toward the rear of the collar and the ends 9 thereof do not meet. Near the ends 9 button-holes 10 are formed in the neck-band for purposes hereinafter described. The tie 2 comprises two members, the neck-band portions 12 of which are identical. The ends of said neck portions have button-holes 13 formed at their ends for engagement with the rear shirt button 14. A little farther in from the button-holes 13, the button-holes 15 are formed in the neck bands 12 of theV tie and are adapted to engage Vbuttons 16 which also engage the aforementioned button-holes 10 at the ends-of the neck-band. Button holes 18 are formed in the neck-band portions of the tie to engage -a button 17 which engages the button-hole 8 at the front of the collar.
W'hen the collar and tie are in use the button-hole engages the front button 7 which engages the front of the shirt and the button-holes 13 of the tie engage the rear shirt button 14. The button-holes 15 of the necktie engage the buttons 16 which engage the ends of the neck-band as hereinbefore described and secure the rear ends of the tie Vand the ends of the neck-band of the collar together. The front portion of the tie is se* cured to the front portion of the collar by means ofthe button holes 1S engaging the button 17 which engages the button-hole 8 at the front of the collar. Thus the tie and collar are secured together and are secured upon the shirt. The disengaged ends of the tie are knotted in any of the approved ways.
Thus it will be seen from the above described construction that a collar and tie is provided which may be quickly attached to the shirt and taken ofi' therefrom without untyin@ the tie or disengaging the tie from the collar in any way. It is necessary of course, t0 attach the tie to the collar when first using the same, but after that the collar Y and tie may be taken off from the shirt bodily without disturbing their engagement with each other. W'heii the collar gets soiled the tie may be removed from the collar and ttached to a clean collar and worn as be ore.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim 1. In combination, a collar having its ends at the back and having button-holes at the ends thereof and a button-hole at the front for engagement with the front button o f the neck-band of a shirt, and a tie comprising two sections having button-holes at respective ends for engagement with the rear button of the neck-band of a shirt and having button-holes adjacent said ends for engagement with buttons engaged with said buttonholes at the ends of said collar.
2. In combination, a collar having its ends at the back and having button holes at the ends thereof and a button-hole at the front for engagement with a button' engaged with collar.
the front thereof for engagement With the Y' front button of a neck-band of .a shirt, and a tie comprising two sections?havingfbuttonholes at respective ends for engagement with the rear button of the neck-band of a shift I and havingvbntton holes adjacent said ends 3. In combination, a collar having the Gepvi'esvof thrisp'artentzmay be attained for endsthereof extending to a point adjacent a' button at the reall of a shirt-band and havfingdnttonl'lole's" at the ends thereof and having a ibutton-hole at the front thereof for ye'ifgagement with the front button ,of a shirt band, and a tie having means for engagement v'i'th the rear button of the Ashit-t"hand and having huttonqholes adjacent said means for engagement with buttons engaged With said button holes. at' the ends of s 'aidgcolian Y 11n, testimony Whereofl afIiX my signature.
