F. BAGIGALUPI'. CURTAIN AND SHADE SUPPORT. APPLICATION FILED AUG. 26, 1910.

. IINVEAITOR I ATTORNEY THE NORRIS PETERS ca, WASHINGTON, D1 c. I
FRANK BACIGALUPI, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
CURTAIN AND SHADE SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 7, 1911.
Application filed August 25, 1910. Serial No. 578,891
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, F RANK BACIGALUPI, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Shade Supports, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention is to provide a combined curtain and shade support which will be cheap'and simple in construction, neat and attractive in appearance, and. easy to place in position and to remove therefrom, and especially one which will be very firm and rigid when placed in position.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of my improved devices for the left side of the window; Fig. 2 is a similar view of one for the right side of the window.
Referring to the drawing, 1 and 2 indicate a pair of my improved curtain and shade supports. Each support is formed of a single piece of sheet metal conformed and bent in the following manner: At a short distance from its upper end, the sheet metal blank bent in a vertical plane at right angles, as shown at 31, to leave a terminal supporting plate 4, which has two screw holes for screwing saidsupporting plate to the window casing. From said terminal plate the upper arm 6 of the support extends in a vertical plane forwardly for a convenient distance to permit the curtain to hang in front of the shade, and the forward end of which forwardly extending portion is formed in its upper edge with approximately semi-circular recesses or sockets 7 spaced from each other to receive the ends of rods or shafts for supporting the one a curtain, and the other window portires or the like. Below said recesses, the sheet metal plate extends in a vertical plane downwardly and then rearwardly, to form a lower arm 8. It is then bent, as shown at 9, at right angles to form an offset 10, and is then bent, as shown at 11, at right angles rearwardly to form a support 12, and the terminal portion 13 of said lower arm is bent at right angles to rest against window casing. Said terminal portion 13 is formed with a screw hole 1 1 for attachment to the window casing and the offset portion 10 is formed with a large hole 15 directly in front of said hole 141 to receive a screw driver for screwing a screw through said hole 1 1-. The supports 12 of the holders, for the two ends of the shade or curtain are formed, the one 2, with a circular hole 17, and the other 1 with a slot 16 extending upwardly and opening in the upper edge of said support, to receive the ends of a shaft for the shade roller.
From the above description it will be seen that my improved curtain and shade support is of great simplicity of construction and low cost, and by reason of the supporting plates at the ends of the upper and lower arms being at a considerable distance from each other, said curtain and shade support when in position is very strong, firm and durable.
I claim A curtain and shade support comprising upper and lower arms substantially in the same plane, the upper arm being bent at right angles to form a terminal plate, apertured for attachment to a window casing, and the lower arm being also bent at rightangles to form an offset, having a large hole to permit of the insertion therethrough of ascrow driver, the bent portion being again bent at right angles to form a shade support, and the terminal portion being bent at. right angles to said support and apertured for attachment to a window casing, said shade support being formed with a recess to receive the end of a shade roller shaft, and the upper arm being formed in its upper edge with a socket to receive the end of a curtain supporting rod, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK BAGIGALUPI.
