hanger wherein the hooks forming one elementof the hanger may be readily removed adjusted and resiliently held in any of their adjusted positions.
An object of the invention is to so shape a hook that the same may be resiliently bent to engage a support so that the hook may be a main groove 2 resiliently held in an adjusted position.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
In the drawing Figure l is an end elevation of my device.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the support.
Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic side elevation of a hook showing it in its normal shape and in dotted lines the position to which the parts are bent previous to being inserted into the support.
Fig. 4 form of hook and,
Fig. 5 is an end elevation of a modified form of support.
Referring to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a supporting bar provided with and a pair of auxiliary grooves 3 arranged at an angle to the main groove and such auxiliary grooves being arranged at opposite sides of said main groove. The main groove and auxiliary grooves extend the entire length of the bar so that the hooks 4 may be readily inserted into the groove from either end of the bar. The preferred form of hook is made from a single piece of material such as by stamplng the Specification of Letters Patent.

same from sheet material, and as shown, is provided with a body portion 5 and apair of hooks 6 arranged opposite to each other and spaced apart. Attention is called to the fact that the hook is made from resilient material so that when pressure .is applied to the hooks 6 in opposite directions the body 5 will be bowed throughout its length for allowing the same to be readily inserted into the grooves and thus it will be seen that the tendency of the body portion 5 to regain its normal position will cause the ends of the body to resiliently grip the walls of the auxiliary grooves with the result that the hooks are accurately held in an adjusted position but at the same time allowing the hooks to be adjusted by the hand of an operator. In the modified form of hook the hook is made from a single length of wire 7 bent at its intermediate point to form a body portion 8 the ends of which, designated by numerals 9 and 10, are adapted to be inserted into the auxiliary grooves in a manner previously described, with relation to the preferred form of hook. In Fig. 5 I have shown a modified form of supporting bar made from sheet material of rectangular outline having its edge portion 11 bent back upon itself to form a continuous groove 12 which is adapted to receive the body portions of the hook. This supporting bar may be attached to another bar by screws as illustrated in the drawing or may be attached to any suitable support convenient.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it should be apparent that I have provided a device which is admirably adapted for the purpose for which it is intended, that the device is simple, durable and efficient of construction and that the device may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost. Changes in the form, proportions and minor details of construction may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
What I claim is The combination of a support having a main groove and a pair of auxlllary grooves arranged at an angle to said main groove In testimony whereof aflix my signature with a hook having a resilient body portion in presence of two witnesses.
and a pair of oppositely arranged spaced WILLIAM H. MAYNARD. hooks, said body pprtion being owed and Witnesses: 5 inserted in said mam and auxiliary ooves 1 JAMES WALKER,
by pressure being applied tos aid boo s. JA ES H. JACOBS.
