It is an object of'my invention .to provide such an attachment whichis adaptedto be mounted on a.conventional clothes hanger and which may be inserted'into the cuff of onetrouser -leg'in order to suspend a pair of trousers from the hanger. in such a manner'that no unsightly .creasing of the trousers will result.

It is a further object of my invention to provide such 'an attachment which may "be formed-entirely -ofcardboard .or heavy paper, so that it may be produced cheaply and may -carrythereon'bothinstructions for its use and advertising material.

Anotherobject of my inventionis to provide such an attachment which is so constructed that it can easily be mounted on a conventional clothes hanger.

My invention also comprises such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.

While I have shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred embodiment of my invention, it should be understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of my attachment;

Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of the same in use, with the pants shown in dotted lines.

A preferred embodiment which has been selected to illustrate my invention comprises a body member 10 which is preferably formed of cardboard or heavy paper, since such material is cheap and is easily printed. Suitable instructions for the use of my attachment may be provided on either or both sides of body member 10, together with such advertising and pictorial material as may be desired. Body member 10 is easily formed by die cutting from a blank piece of material at the same time that the printing is performed.

Body member 10 is provided with a rounded top portion 11 having an opening 12. The sides of top pd'rtion 11 curve downwardly to form one side of a pair of grooves 13 and 14, which are disposed on opposite sides of top portion 11. The opposite sides of grooves 13 and 14 form the edges of a pair of

The lower part of body member 10 comprises a pair of substantially

rectangular arms

15 and 16. This alternation of front and back pressure acts to lock body member 10 in place around the top of the hanger. A pair of additional flanges may be provided and positioned on the opposite sides of the hanger to provide an even firmer mounting for my attachment.

It should be noted that the form of attachment shown in the drawings should be used and that the positioning of the attachment parts with respect to the hanger should not be reversed. If the reverse method of attachment is used, upward force exerted by the trousers will cause body member 10 to bow out and would not be satisfactory in use.

In use, triangular opening 23 provides a means for insection of a finger to grip the hanger. The pants may be hung on the horizontal basal run 27 of the hanger, except that they are not passed as far over basal run 27 as usual. Finger pressure on the back of body member 10 adjacent the top of U-shaped opening 21 causes

19 and 20 to be swung outwardly as body member 10 is bent along score 22 to permit the pants cuffs to pass between

Body member 10 is then released and the trousers moved back so that

19 and 20 are inserted into the cutf of the top trouser leg, with one of the arms being disposed on each side of the cuff stitching. The cuff will then be held and prevented from displacement and it will in turn hold the other leg of the trousers in place so that the trousers are suspended from a hanger in such a manner that they cannot fall and they cannot become creased by the hanger.

My attachment is capable of widespread use by cleaning establishments as an added service to their customers, since it can be furnished at little extra cost for the purpose of advertising and good will.

Other methods of attaching my device to a conventional coat hanger may be devised. For example, the attachment may be provided with portions which fit around or adjacent the hanger and which are fastened together by stapling or gluing. Other forms of fastening devices or locks may also be used.

The center portion of the score 22 may be cut out instead of being merely creased, in order to provide greater flexibility of the

I claim:

1. A pants holding attachment adapted to be used with a clothes hanger of the type having a horizontal pants receiving run and suspending means disposed thereabove, said pants holding attachment comprising a member formed from a single piece of cardboard or the like, said member having a bottom edge and a pair of side edges extending upwardly at substantially a right angle from said bottom edge, said member having an upper portion and a lower portion, said portions being defined by a crease extending laterally across said member between said side edges and substantially parallel to said bottom edge, said upper portion having means for attachment thereof to a hanger, the bottom edge of said member being provided with an upwardly extending notch portion between the ends thereof, said notch portion being adapted to accommodate the stitching of a pants cuff, the lower portion of said member adapted to be pivoted about said crease with respect to said upper portion, the bottom edge of said member being of a width to fit within a pants cuff with the stitching of said cuff disposed within said notch, the sides of said member being of substantially the same length so as to dispose said bottom edge substantially parallel to the pants receiving run of a hanger when said attachment is secured to said hanger, the length of said sides being such as to dispose said bottom edge below said pants receiving run when said attachment is secured to a hanger.

2. A pants holding attachment adapted to be used with a clothes hanger of the type having a horizontal pants receiving run and suspending means disposed thereabove, said pants holding attachment comprising a member having a bottom edge and a pair of side edges extending upwardly therefrom, said member having an upper portion and a lower portion, said portions being defined by a crease extending laterally across said member between said side edges and substantially parallel to said bottom edge, said upper portion being provided with means for attachment thereof to a hanger, said lower portiion adapted to be pivoted about said creases with respect to said upper portion, the bottom edge of said member being provided with an upwardly extending notch portion between the ends thereof, said notch portion being adapted to accommodate the stitching of a pants cuff, the bottom edge of said member being of a width to fit within a pants cuff with the stitching of said cuff disposed within said notch, the sides of said member being of substantially the same length so as to dispose said bottom edge substantially parallel to the pants receiving run of a hanger when said attachment is secured to said hanger, the length of said sides being such as to dispose said bottom edge below said pants receiving run when said attachment is secured to a hanger.
