CURTAIN-POLE AND SHADE-ROLLER SUPPORTING BRACKET.
Application filed September T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER V. SHERWOOD, citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole and Shade-Roller Supporting Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in curtain pole and shade roller supporting brackets, and has particular reference to the pro-vision of a device of this kind by means of which various conventional forms of curtain poles may be efiectively supported in accordance with the desired one of the conventional forms of poles it is intended to use, the bracket further having provision for supporting the ordinary shade roller in a well known manner.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the above kind which embraces the desired qualities of simplicity, durability and efficiency in operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide a bracket of the above kind which may be cheaply and easily constructed by a stamping operation from a strip of sheet metal so that the device may be presented to the public at a low cost.
Other objects will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood and the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

Referring more in detail to the drawing, the present invention comprises a strip of sheet metal of elongated. form that is bent upon transverse lines 5 to provide four serially connected members 6, 7, 8, and 9, each of which is arranged at right angles to the remaining member or members attached thereto. The member 6 comprises an attaching face by means of which the a, 1923. Serial No. 661,566.
bracket is secured to the face of a window frame by means of screws or the like, (not shown) adapted to pass through openings in said member 6 as indicated at 10.
The member 7 extends outwardly from the outer side of the member 6 and is formed with a depending slotted ear 11 adapted for supporting reception of the pintle of a shade roller in a well known manner. The member 8 extends outwardly from the forward edge of the member 7 and is provided with a rectangular slot 12 that has its walls grooved at opposite sides as at 13 so that the end of either a rectangular or round extensible sheet metal curtain pole may be inserted therein. With the end of the curtain pole inserted in this slot or opening, it may be held in place by means of a set screw 14- that is threaded in the member 7.
The end member 9 is provided wit-h a notch or seat 15 in its upper edge and ex tends outwardly from the outer side or end of the member 8, the seat or notch 15 being of arcuate form for supporting reception of an ordinary wooden curtain pole when it is desired to use the same.
It will thus be seen that when the device is secured to a window frame in spaced relation to the companion bracket in the well known manner, the ends of two different forms of extensible sheet metal curtain poles may be supported or a wood-en pole may be supported, together with a shade roller. Thus, should one desire to support a circular extensible curtain pole, the ends of the latter can be inserted through the member 8 of each bracket, while the ends of a rectangular extensible curtain pole may be similarly placed in case this form of pole is desired to be used.
On the other hand, the ends of a wooden curtain pole may rest in the seat 15 for being supported in case the sheet metal extensible poles are not used.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let-- ters Patent is:
A curtain pole and shade roller supporting bracket comprising an elongated strip of sheet metal bent upon transverse lines to provide four connected sections, the alternate sections being disposed in parallel planes, means for attaching one of the terminal sections to a support, means provided upon the other terminal section for supporting a curtain pole, means provided upon one f of the intermediate sections for receiving the end of a'curtain pole extension, and means provided upon the other intermediate 19 section for binding the curtain pole extension in the said holding means.
