WINDOW-BRACKET.

Be it known that I, JAMES 1T. PARRAHM, citizen of the United States, residing at Wichita, Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in IVindow- Brackets, of which the following is a speciiication.

My invention relates to window brackets, and particularly to a combined shade fixture and curtain-pole holder, the object being to provide a bracket of this type adjustable to any ordinary window both in regard to its width, and size of the window casing or molding.

Another object is to provide a windowbracket which may be securely attached without the use of nails or other means tend# ing to scar or damage the casing.

The invention consists of the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described in detail and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of my device as applied to the top cross-member, or corner-blocks of an ordinary window, showing the shade and curtain pole in dotted lines in their relative positions and showing only the upper part of the window. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the left hand bracket on an enlarged scale the corner-block being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the right hand bracket, showing the cornerblock in dotted lines.

In these drawings the numeral 1 designates the window frame of ordinary construction, having at its upper corners the blocks 2-2 to which my device is readily applied. It consists of two clamping members, 3, 1, which adjustably engage an extension bracket 5 for supporting the shade roller 6, and also the curtain pole 7. The clamping member 3 is bifurcated at its lower end and the extensions thus formed are pro-vided with lips 8 which engage the lower edge of the bracket 5, and at its upper ends is. bent at right angles inwardly to form a projection 9 through which a thumb or ordinary screw 10 may be threaded to secure the who-le in place. The other clamping member 4 is provided at its upper end with a lip 11, similar to those of the member 3, which engages the upper edge of the member 5. At its lower end the member 8 is bent inwardly at right angles to extend Specification of Letters Patent.

under the bottom of the window frame or corner block and at the end of this projection 12 are provided upwardly extending teeth 13 to grip securely the frame work.

It will be seen that the members 3 and 1 act as a double clamp, in that they secure the extension member 5 when adjusted in relation to theshade roller and curtain pole, and clamp the whole device to the corner blocks 2. The extension bracket 5 is simply a thin metal strip shaped up as shown in Fig. 3, to provide bearings 14C for the shade roller 6 and recesses 15 for the curtain pole 7. In order to afford further adjustment of the device I may provide additional lips 16 in the clamp members to engage with the edges of the extension bracket 5 to lessen the distance between the projections 9 and 12.

What I claim as new and desire to cover by Letters Patent is:

1. In a fixture ofthe class described, an extension bracket, oppositely extending slidably connected clampinomembers provided with lips engaging an clamping between them the opposite edges of the extension bracket, said clamping members having ends adapted to engage opposite edges of a window frame molding, and clamping means carried by one of said members, substantially as described.

2. In a fixture of the class described, an

extension bracket, oppositely disposed slidably connected clamping members provided with lips engaging and clamping between them the opposite sides of the extension bracket and means for simultaneously mov ing said members in opposite directions and clamping them to a window frame, substantially as described.

8. In combination a pair of clamping members, the one having a bifurcated portion and the other a part sliding or fitting in said bifurcated portion, said clamping members having overturned ends, teeth or projections carried by one overturned end, a set screw carried by the other overturned end, and a supporting bracket clamped to said clamping members, substantially as described.
