Description

S. PETERSON.
ND SHADE HOLDER. APPLICATION FlLED AUG.H, 1915;
CURTAIN A Patented May 22, 1917,
SAMQEIIZI rnrnnsomor Inon RIVER, MICHIGAN a 1 .QURTAIN: Am) S AD H L E Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 11, 1915. Serial-No. 44,966.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL PETERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Iron River, in the county of Iron and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Shade .Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a combined curtain rod and shade holder, and more particularly to the class of quickly detachable and adjustable curtain rod and shade holders.
The primary object et the invention is the provision of a dov .of this character, wherein the use of screws or nails for the fastening of the same to a window frame are dispensed with, as the said device can be conveniently and i' uickly attached in proper position upon the window'frame, to support a curtain rod or shade roller.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character,- wherein it may be mounted on various sizes of window frames, for supporting a curtain rod or'rods and a shade roller.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the same maybe readily and easily attached to or removed from the window frame with despatch, without in the least marring or damaging the latter.
. A still further object of the invention is the provision of a device ofthis character,
which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efiicient in operation, strong, durable and inexpensive in manufacture.
WVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the featuresof construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
Tn the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a horizontal transverse sectional view through a portion of the device.
Fig. 2 is apcrspective View of one of the. (-lamps for the mounting of the devlce on the window frame.
Fig. 3 is afragmcntary .plan view of a,
slight modification of the invention.
Similar refcrencecharacters indicate corresponding parts throughout the Several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail,'A designates a portion of a window frame, which is of the ordinary well known construction, having mounted thereon the combined curtain rod and shade holder hereinafter fully described. l I
Patented my? 22, 191% The combined curtain rod and shade -holde r comprises a pair of window frame clamping members, each including an elongated base plate or section 10, and an adjustable slide section 11, both being formed at their outer ends with right angular jaw terminals 12, provided with inwardlybent spurs or teeth 13, which are adapted to bite into the wood work of the window frameA,
at thesides thereof, so that the jaw terminals 12, will firmly grip the samefor the fastening of the clamping-members thereon. The base plate or section 10, is preferably cut away longitudinally thereof for a portion of its length and at the center of the same to assure lightness thereto, while out into the side edges of the slot at spacedintervals are outwardly bent guide tongues 14, for receiving the slide section 11, to guide the same in its adjustment.
Formed on the base plate or section. 10,
are outwardly extending spaced ears 15, and
iikewise *formed on the inner end of the slide section 11, is an outwardly extending car 16, and swiveled in the'said cars 15, is an adjusting screw 17. which is threaded in the car 16, so that the slide section 11, can be readily moved for attaching or detaching of the clamping member.
, On the inner iaw terminal 12, upon each base plate or section 10, is formed a shade bracket extension or bearing 18, which is of the ordinary well known construction, so that both extensions or bearings cooperate for supporting a shade roller, within the window frame, as shown.
Formed on and rising from the upper edge of each base plate orsection 10, is a vertical arm 19, having therein near its free end diagonally disposed -spaced substantially V-shaped slots or openings 20, while out from the said arm and working in the latter are resilient lips 21, for detachably locklng in, the said slots 0r openings the peripherally grooved ends 22, of substantially U- shaped curtain rods 23, tofasten the same on the clamping members.
Tn Fig. 3, of the drawings, there is shown a slight modification of clamping member, which is designed especially for double window frames. and comprises the base plate or section 24, and the slide section 25. having the jaw terminals 26, formed with shade bracket extensions or bearings 27, on
, 5 both of the latter.
From the foregoing it is thought that theconstruction and manner of use of the invention will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has 10 been omitted.
extending outwardly at the opposite ends of said guideway, and provided with a rearwardly extending clamping jaw having an extension to support a shade roller, a slide plate mounted in said guideway having one end bent into a clamping jaw and the other end bent laterally to provide an ear formed with a threaded opening therein, and a screw rod swiveled'in the ears of said base i plate and engaging the threaded opening of the ear of the slide plate. I t
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
SAMUEL PETERSON.
