` attenua .Curtain Holders CYRUS MOORE, OF CAMBRIDGE, OHIO.
WINDOW SHADE AND CURTAIN FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
raient-eu July 21, 1914.
Application filed November 13, 1913. Serial Hei-00,841.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CYnUs Moons, alcitizen of the United States, residing at Cambridge, in the county of Guernsey and State 'of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lindow Shade and and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention .relates to window shade fixtures, and more particularly to window shade and curtain holders.
One of the principal objects 'of the invention is to provide an adjustable shade and curtain holder.
Another object of vide a device of the class ing adjusting means for holder and also adjusting shade and curtain brackets.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the class described which will be simple, durable, eiiicient in operation, and inexpensiveto manufacture.
With these and other objects in view which will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several figures, of which,
Figure 1, represents a front elevational view of the device as applied to a window casing. Fig. 2, represents a top edge view of the device as applied to a window easing. Fig. 3 represents a transverse, sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4, represents a horizontal, sectional View on the line 4-1 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5,' represents a horizontal, sectional view on the line 5--5 of Fig. 1. Fig. 6, represents a transverse, sectional view on the line 6-6 of Fig. 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawing the holder comprises sections 5 and'6, preferably made of strips of metal, section the invention is to prodescribed embodythe body of the means for the '6 having its 'sections bent over sol that section 5 is slidably positioned in. section 6.
Section 5 in its central portion 1s punched or stamped to form a series of outwardly projecting rack teeth 7 which are adapted to be engaged by a spring finger 8 formed at one end ot' section 6, by bending down a portion of the metal at that end, said finger 8 adapted to engage the rack teeth as shown in Fig. l for maintaining the two sections v ot the holder in adjusted position, the. form of rack teeth allowing adjustment of the sections in one direction, but preventing adjustment ot' said sections in the opposite direction it being evident, however that .should it be desired to adjust the sections in said opposite direction, the same may be accomplished by inserting an instrument beneath the finger S and springing the same v outwardly, until it clears the outwardly projecting edges of the rack teeth.
A pair of roller brackets 9 and curtain brackets 10 are supported by the holder one roller bracket and one curtain bracket supported by each of the sections of the holder near the outside ends thereof and said brackets have the edges of the body portions 1l thereof bent over as at 12 to slidably maintain said brackets on the holder sections. In order to adjust the brackets on said sections, the former are provided with spring teeth 13 adapted to engage in slots 14 formed in the outside ends of the holder sections. The curtain brackets 10 are somewhat longer than the shade brackets 9 so that a curtain pole may be supported by the curtain brackets without interfering with the shade-roller. The outside ends of the holder sections are bent at right angles as at 15 and then doubled upon themselves to form arms whereby the holder may be secured to the window frame 1G said arms being provided with thumb screws 17 having a pointed end for engaging window on the window casing whereby the holder may be secured thereon.
By the construction set forth in the foregoing description it is evident that the holder may be adjusted to fit window casings of various sizes and that the shade and curtain brackets may be adjusted irrespective of the adjustment of the holder so as to support various length window shade rollers and curtain poles.
Although I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention I may desire to make such changes in the construction combination, and arrangement of parts as do not depart from the spirit of the invention 'and the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Iatent is 1. In combination with an adjustable shade andcurtain holder transversely telescoping sections each of said sections having their outer ends bent at right-angles and abutting the sides of the window frame, a second bent portion continuing-from the first portion and parallel thereto, said second bent portion serving to hold the said telescoping'sections in spaced relation from the faceof the window frame and securing means adapted to fasten said sections to the sides of the Window frame through the first mentioned bent portion.
2. A curtain holder comprising telescopic sections adapted to extend transversely across the Window frame, said sections having their outer extremities bent rearwardly for engagement with the opposite edges of said frame the terminals lof said bent por.-
tions being rebent upon themselves and'enl gaging the inner face of the first bent portion, said second bent portion being rebent at right-angles to` form a third bent portion to engage the face of said Window frame and to space said telescopic sections `there-l from, means forv'fastening said first and second bent portion to the side of the Window frame and slidably adjustable supports adapted for movement on said telescoping sections.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
