@uwntoz bylvasier 1.1 flzimz'an Witnesses I A5 I MM? M UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIQEB SYLVESTER A. DZIMIAN, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
CURTAIN-POLE AND SHADE-ROLLER HOLDER.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SYLVESTER A. Dzr- MIAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole and Shade-Roller Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved window fixture for application to the head of a window and for use in supporting a curtain pole and also for supporting the roller of the window shade and the said invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of a window fixture constructed in accordance with this invention, showing the same attached to the upper portion of a window. Fig. 2 is a detail perspec tive view of the same.
In accordance with this invention I pro vide a bar 1 which comprises members 2, 8 which members are disposed in overlapped relation and the inner end of the member 2 is formed with lateral extensions 1 which are bent downwardly from the face of said.
member 2 slight distance at right angles to the plane of said member 2 and are then bent toward each other to form flanges 5 which are parallel with the plane of said member 2, the said lateral extensions and parallel flanges forming a guide and support for the reception of the inner end portion of the member 3 so that the members 2, 3 are slidably connected together and hence the bar is longitudinally adjustable so that it may be caused to fit a window of any width. The members of the bar are provided with openings 6 for the reception of screws 7 which serve to secure the members of the bar to the window head as shown in Fig. 1. The members of the bar are made of sheet metal, the guiding and supporting elements 4, 5 being struck up from the same and formed integral therewith. The outer end of each member of the bar is outturned at right angles to the general plane of the bar to form arms 7 and the said arms are formed at their outer ends with guiding and supporting lugs 8. The members of the bar are provided near their outer ends with longitudinal slots 9 and the said arms are provided with slots 10. Brackets 11, each of which is preferably made of sheet metal comprise each an arm Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 19, 1909.
Serial No. 478,870.
12 and a semicircular supporting arm 13. The arms 12 of the said brackets extend through and are slidable in the lugs 8, said arms bearing against the arms 7 of the bar members and being adjustable longitudinally thereon so that the curved arms 13 may be extended as far from the window as may be desired and bolts 14 which operate in the slots are employed to secure the arms 12 to the arms 7, are slidable in the said slots to admit of the adjustment of the brackets and are provided with winged nuts 15 to secure the brackets at any desired adjustment.
In connection with the bar 1 I also provide a pair of shade roller holding brackets 16 each of which is also made of a strip of sheet metal, one end of which is bent at right angles to form an outwardly extending hori- Zontal arm 17, the major portion of such shade holding bracket forming a bracket arm 18 which arm 18 has a longitudinal slot 20. The said arms 18 of the shade holding brackets bear against the outer side of the bar 1 at points intersecting the slots 9 and are connected to said bar 1 by bolts which operate in the intersecting slots 9, 19 so that the brackets 16 may be adjustable longitudinal of the bar 1 according to the length of the shade roller and may be also adjusted vertically with respect to said bar 1 to dispose the shade roller at any desired elevation. The said bolts 20 are provided with winged nuts 91 to secure the said brackets 16 at any desired adjustment. The arms 17 of the brackets 16 are provided with suitable openings 22 to receive the studs or ournals of the sash roller.
A window fixture thus constructed is exceedingly light, cheap and simple, is very strong and durable, presents a sightly appearance, is very readily attached to a window and detached therefrom and may be adjusted to fit a window of any size.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new is A window fixture of the class described comprising a bar for application to a window and having outstanding arms at its ends, said bar and said arms having longi- Patented A11 81, 1909 ing the arms of said brackets to the arms of bar and detachably and adjustably securing 10 the bar and movable in the slots of the arms said brackets to said bar.
of the bar, shade roller supporting brackets In testimony whereof I affix my signature each comprising a horizontal arm and a in presence of two witnesses.
5 vertlcal arm the vertical arm of said shade SYLVESTER A DZIMIAN roller supporting brackets having vertical slots intersecting those of the bar, and bolts \Vitnessesz disposed in said intersecting slots of said JOSEPH F. XVEIKOLAJEZCK,
shade roller supporting brackets and said FRANK P. XVRoBLEwsKT.
