UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IDA E. CAPEHART, OF NEW BRIGHTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, IDA E. CAPEi-IART, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New Brighton, in the county of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a curtain fixture, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive fixture that can be easily mounted upon a window, door or alcove frame for supporting one or more curtains, portieres, or lambrequins.
Another object of this invention is to provide a strong and durable curtain hanger that can be secured to a window frame without injury to the same and to which curtains can be connected without injury to the curtains.
A further object of this invention is to provide a curtain fixture that properly spaces curtains relatively to a frame or other support, the fixture being susceptible to any desired ornamentation and to a finish that will harmonize with the frame in connection with which it is used.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawings, wherein :-Fi gure l is a perspective view of a modified form of fixture, and Fig.
2 is an enlarged perspective View of a portion of the same.
Referring to the drawing the device in cludes a flat metallic slotted bar 1 which has curved ends provided with vertical sleeves 2 slidably mounted upon vertical rods or guides 3 suitably secured to the edges of a window frame. The sleeves 2 are locked relatively to the rods 3 by set screws 4 The device further includes a cylindrical rod 13 which is pivotally connected to the Specification of Letters Patent.

inner side of the bar 1, at one end thereof, as at 5. The cylindrical rod 13 has the outer end thereof flattened and slotted, as at 14k in order that it can be connected to the bar 1*. The rod 13 is associated with the longitudinally extending slot in the bar 1 for securing a curtain in position and in this connection it will be stated that the rod 13 holds the curtain against the walls of the longitudinal slot in the bar 1 and that the end of the curtain can be draped over said rod 13*. The curtain cannot become accidentally displaced when the rod 13 is connected to the bar 1" and furthermore the rod 13 when securing the curtain in position will not injure the curtain in any manner.
In the construction shown it is possible to raise and lower the bar 1 and therefore vertically adjust the curtain suspended from the fixture.
The fixture can be made of light and durable metal and of various sizes.
What I claim is A curtain fixture comprising a supporting bar having each of its ends bent to extend inwardly, each of said ends provided with a vertically disposed integral sleeve, said bar further provided with a longitudinal slot extending from one of said inturned ends to the other, guide rods passing through said sleeves, a clamping rod having each of its ends inturned and having one of its inturned ends connected to the inner face of one of the inturned ends of said bar, said rod adapted to extend through said slot and having its other inturned end connected to the outer face of the other inturned end of said bar whereby a curtain will be clamped to the bar, and means carried by said sleeves for holding said bar relatively to said guide rods.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
IDA E. OAPEHART.
