CURTAIN- HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters ratent No. 608,070, dated. July 26, 1898.
Application filed August 21, 1 8 9 '7.
To ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CI-IRISTENNA A. OLIVER, of Paynes Corners, in the county of Trumbull and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ourtain Hangers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This inventon contemplates certain new and useful improvements in curtain hangers or supports.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an extremely simple and inexpensive hanger forlace curtains, which may also serve as the support for shades or roller-curtains.
A further object is to provide a hanger of this character which is capable of being adjusted to accommodate windows and curtains of various sizes. I
The invention will be hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view in perspective illustrating my invention. Fig. 2 isa detail bottom plan view with parts broken away.
Referring to the drawings, A designates the hanger, which consists of the outer sections a, running parallel with the top of the windowframe x, and two end sections a a at right angles to said outer section and removably secured at their inner ends to said windowframe.
In the drawings I have shown a form of hanger having the outer section a composed of two bars a a to be scopically connected, the longitudinal edges of bar 0, hugging the edges of bar a The bar a at one end is bent inward at right angles to form the end section a, which latter serves as a spring tending to hold the outer free end of said bar away from the window-frame. The extreme inner end a of section a'is flanged so as to be removably held by a keeper-plate a, attached to the frame as. The outer end of the movable bar a has a slot a", with which is designed to engage the hooked end a of the Serial No. 648,993. (No model.)
end section a Thislatter consists of a short bar at right angles to the front of frame w and having its inner flanged end a secured to the latter by a keeper-plate 01, After a curtain is hung or draped on the outer section 66 the slot a is brought into line with hook or, and the latter will securely hold the free end of the bar. In the end section a is formed an open-ended slot 17, while in line therewith in the end section a is a hole I). This slot and hole are designed to accommodate the ends of a curtain-roll.
The advantages of my invention are apparent. It will be readily seen that a hanger constructed as herein described is extremely simple and inexpensive. It can be easily secured to or removed from a window-frame and can be adjusted to accommodate windows of various sizes. It will be also observed that the same hanger will serve for supporting roller-shades and that the necessary adjustment to conform to the length of the shade-roller can be readily secured.
I claim as my invention 1. A hanger composed of an outer telescoping longitudinal bar and right-angular end sections, one of which latter is of springlike nature and fast with said bar, the outer end of said bar being free and having a slot therein, the other one of said end sections having a hooked end designed to fit in said slot, the spring-like end section serving to hold the free end of said bar normally away from the hooked end of the other section, substantially as set forth.
2. A hanger composed of an outer longitudinal section consisting of a bar bent at right angles to form an end section, a second bar telescoping the former and having a slot in its outer end and a second right angular end section consisting of a bar having an outer hooked end, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
OI'IRISTENNA A. OLIVER.
