HARRY C. HEPLER, OF CHARLEROI, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHADE AND CURTAIN BRACKET.
Application filed August 4, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HARRY C. HEPLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Charleroi, in the county of Washington and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Shade and Curtain Brackets, of which improvement the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in shade and curtain brackets comprising novel features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed. .l am aware other shade and curtain brackets have been invented and do not claim any useful feature claimed therein.
The objectof this invention is to pro de an inexpensive device of this kind in which shade roller attachments are easily adjusted for the reception of the shade rollers of different lengths.
Reference to the accompanying drawing and description more fully illustrates the construction of my device.
Figure 1 is a side view of my bracket. Fig. 2 is an end view of my adjustable shade roller support.
Referring to the drawing by numerals, 10 denotes the body of the bracket, 20 the body of the adjustable shade roller support. The bracket is secured to the edge of the frame or casing of the window in any usual man ner, preferably by a screw nail, which may be between the two tongues 11 112 or at 11, and tongues of sheet metal 11', 112 punched to right angles to the body of the bracket. The bracket is provided with a slideway 14 and rest, 15, also a sliding curtain pole holder 12, which is provided with a hook 12. The sliding holder is adjustable by a set screw 13 at any point along its travel way 14. The shade roller adjustable member 20 is attached to the bracket in any usual manner known to the art, preferably it is made integral with the bracket by cutting a large tongue 20 and bending it to right angles to the bracket. The edges 21, 22 of the tongue 20 are each bent over and returned along the face of the tongue 20 in such manner that a groove is formed providing a travel way for the adjustable shade roller support 23. The support 23 is ada ted to slide in the grooves at 21 and 22, an

different lengths. lt is secured at the desired point by a set screw 25, the support, 23
being bent at right angles forming a projection 23 which is perforated at 24, to receive the axles of the shade roller.
The brackets are made in pairs, one the counterpart of the other. The shade roller device is adjusted by loosening the set screw 25 and sliding the support 23 to any point on the travel way, formed by the grooves at 21 and 22, which suits the dimensions of the shade roller and secured by tightening the set screw. rl`he sliding holder for the curtain pole is secured by the set screw 13.
The foregoing description, referred to the drawings, sets forth the construction and operation sufficiently for those skilled in the art to understand the invention without further detail.
Various minor changes can be made in the device without departing from the principle of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The combination of a supporting bracket provided with two travel way members, one member forming the top part of the bracket frame, said top part having therein a longitudinal slot and a holder slidable thereon, and means operating through the slot for securing the adjustment of the holder, and the other member projecting laterally and extended at right angles to the bracket frame, the latter member being provided with a guide on each upper and lower edge, and an adjustable sliding support seated in the guides, the sliding support being right angled, one member thereof adapted to slide in the aforesaid guides, the other member being outwardly extended and perforated or recessed near the end and means ada ted to secure the sliding support in its adjusted positions.
In testimony whereof l have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LAWRENCE Gr. Srnos, H. F. PARSONS.
