ANNIE M. HILLMAN, OF WESTHOFF, TEXAS.
ADJUSTABLE SHADE-HANGER.
Application led lFebruary 25, 1914.
T0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANNIE M. HILLMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at ldestholi", in the county of Dewitt and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Shade-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an improved attachment for window frames comprehending particularly an adjustable shade hanger designed to support the usual curtain pole and shade roller.
The main object of the present invention is the provision of an attachment of this character in which the curtain pole supporting arms are fixed to the window frame and in turn slidably support anl adjustable bracket in which the usual shade roller is removably mounted.
The invention in its preferred form of details will be described in the following speciication, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective viewof the improvement. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 1s a transverse section of the same.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, the improved attachment comprises duplicate guides 1 and 2 formed at their lower ends with offset portions providing securing plates 3 and bent at their upper ends to provide duplicate securing plates i and terminally projected beyond the securing plates at right angles to the main length of the guide as at 5, the forward terminal being bent to form semi-circular depressions 6 for the reception of the curtain pole. The guides are formed intermediate their lengths with laterally disposed offset supporting plates 7, through the medium of which, together with the supporting plates 3 and A, the guide is secured to the window frame in a manner to space the main length of the guide from the surface thereof.
The shade supporting bracket includes two members 8 and 9 each composed of sections 10 and 1l arranged at right angles. The upright section 10 is formed with laterally projected spaced plates 12 to slidably engage one of the guides l or 2, one of the plates being provided with a set screw adapted to engage the underlying guide to lock the sections in desired adjustment longitudinally of the guide. The section 11 Specification of Letters Patent.

of eachhmember extends at right angles to ythe section 10, `and the meeting ends of the sections of the respective members are tively outer terminals of the section 11 of each member are formed with forwardly projecting plates 14 in which are formed recesses. 15 of usual form for the reception of the shade roller of ordinary type;
In the use of the device, it is obvious that the guides 1 and 2 may be secured to the window frame in any desired spaced relation and that the shade bracket may be laterally adjusted so that the sections will slidably embrace the guide. The shade may be then adjusted to any position longitudinally of the guides so as to arrange said shade to cover any desired portion of the window. Y
What is claimed is l. A'window shade attachment comprising parallel guides in the form of flat strips arranged so that their outer faces are in a common plane, supporting portions provided upon said guides, and a curtain shade bracket'composed of duplicateflat members, each comprising extensions disposed at right angles to each other, each member being mounted with one extension extending longitudinally with respect to the adjacent guide for sliding movement past the same and with its outer face in the plane of the outer faces of both guides, the other extensions of said members being arranged parallel to each other and connected for lateral adjustment, and longitudinally spaced offset portions formed upon the outer edge of the longitudinal extension of each of said members for frictional engagement with the opposite broad faces of the corresponding guide.
2. A window shade attachment. comprising parallel guides in the form of fiat strips arranged so that their outer faces are in a common plane, supporting portions provided upon said guides, a curtain shade bracket composed of duplicate flat members, each comprising extensions disposedv at right angles to each other, each member being mounted with one extensionv extending longitudinally with respect to the adjacent guide for sliding movement past the same and With its outer face in the plane of the outer faces of both guides, the other eXtensions of said members being arranged parallel to each other and connected for lateral adjustment, and longitudinally spaced offset portions formed upon the outer edge of the longitudinal extension of each of said members for frictional engagement with the opposite broad faces of the corresponding guide, and a securing member adjustably mounted Within one of the guide ngers of each bracket member for engagement with the adjacent face of the corresponding guide. I In testimony whereof l aliX my signature in presence of tWo Witnesses.
