Description
H. L. JUDD.
BRACKET FOR CURTAIN ROLLER.
No,170,740 Patented Dec. 7,1875.
7 @171/004 (To u fiww fgifudw UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HUBERT L. JUDD, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN BRACKETS FOR CURTAIN-ROLLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,740, dated December 7, 1875; application filed September 27, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUBERT L. JUDD, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Brackets for Curtain-Fixtures, &c., of which the following is a specification:
The object of this invention is to furnish means for attaching the bracket with rapidity and very cheaply and firmly, and without the use of screws.
I make use of a cast-metal bracket having lateral wings and a penetrating-point, in combination with a staple that is driven into the wood, and confines the upper end of the bracket. The wings give, the necessary steadiness to the bracket, to preventlateral or rocking motion, the pin serves to position the bracket and hold the bottom end, and the staple supports the upper end of the bracket.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of the bracket. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same; and Fig. 3 shows the back of the bracket.
The bracket is shown as adapted to a curtain-fixture, a being the stop-lever, pivoted to the arm 11 that carries the axle of the curtainfixture. The wings c are at the back part of the arm I), and extend laterally sufiiciently to steady the bracket, and prevent its rocking. At the bottom of the bracket there is a pin, 01, that is cast thereon, and projects to the rear, so as to be driven into the wood; and the upper end of the bracket is made as a narrow bar, 0, that is notched at its sides near the upper end, so as to receive the staple f that is driven into the wood, and holds the bracket firmly in place.
This construction is simple, cheap, and very strong; and, where the ends of the staples are slightly beveled, so that they bend in driving, the bracket will be held very firmly.
I claim as my invention- The bracket, made with the wings 0, point 01, and narrow bar 0, notched at its upper end to receive the staple f, as and for the purpose set forth.
Signed by me this 22d day of September, A. D. 1875.
H. L. J UDD.
