Description

P. MAGRINI. COMBINED SHADE ROLLER AND CURTAIN POLE BRACKET.
APPLICATION FILED IIOV- 7, 19 16- Pmmd Mar. 12, 1918.
WITNESS INVENTOR.
, rrnrno MAGaINI, on BELLE VERNON, rnnnisvnvnnrn.
COMBINED simian-Roman AND CURTAIN-POLE BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent. t t 12, 191
Application filed November 7, 1916. Serial No. 129,967.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PIETRO MAeRINI, a subject ofv the King of Italy, residing at Belle Vernon, county of Fayette, and State I of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Shade-Rollers and Curtain-Pole Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to acombined shade roller and curtain pole bracket and has .for its object to provide a bracket of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, with means for supporting a curtain pole and shade roller and further provided with means whereby the support for the shade roller can be adjusted for rolls of different lengths; I J
A further object of the invention is to provide a bracket of the class referred to with a pole support in a manner as hereinafter set forth whereby the curtain pole can be adjustably supported withrespect to the window frame, that is to say brought closer or removed away therefrom when desired.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bracket of theclass referred-to with a shade roller support capable of being adjusted to provide for the different lengths of support and locked in a position to which it has been adjusted.
Further objectsof the invention are to provide a bracket for the purpose set forth which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, eflicient and convenient in its use, readily secured to the window frame, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure 1 is an elevation of a portion of a window frame showing the adaptation therewith of a combined shade roller and curtain pole support bracket in accordance with this invention.
.5 is a slide 9 having projecting outwardly Fig. 2 is a top-plan view of a bracket.
Fig. 3 is a section on line IIIIII of Fig- 2.
Fig. 4 is a section on line IVIV, Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a section onv line V V, Fig.1 2.
Referring to the drawings'in detail 1 denotesa portion of a window frame and to the sides thereof is connected the combined shade roller and curtain pole support bracket through, the medium .of angle shaped arm 2 formed with openings 3,v for the": pas sage of. securing devices 4.
Fixedly secured to the front of the arm 2, intermediate the ends thereof, is an elongated. oblong housing 5, which is rectangular in vertical section, and has the front wall thereof provided with a longitudinally extending slot 6 of the same length as the length of the said wall. The housing 5 has itsrear wall fixedly secured to thebracket and the outer end-closed". by a plate 7, provided centrally with a vertically disposed rectangular slot 8. Mounted in the housing therefrom and through the slot 6, a shank 10, with which is formed integral an arm 11 of greater width than the width of the shank so that the arm will overlap the outer face of the front wall of the housing 5. The outer end of the arm 11 is provided with means, as at 12, to constitute a hearing for the pintle of the shade roller.
Extending through the slot 8 is an elongated bar 13 having one edge provided with spaced teeth 14:. The inner end of the bar 13 is reduced as at 16, and extended through an opening 18 in the slide 9. The free terminus of the reduced end 16 is upset, as at 19, to prevent the bar from pulling through the slide 9. The diameter of the reduced end 16 of the bar 13, with respect to the opening 18, is such as to provide what may be termed a swivel connection between the barand slide and which will per- 100 mit of the bar shifting when occasion so requires. j
The outer end of the bar 13 has a finger grip 21. The function of the bar 13 is to adjust the position of the slide 9 to pro- 10 9 has been adjusted to the desired. position, 11
2. The inner end of 'the'h'ousing 5 is open,
the bar 13 is given a quarter turn so that teeth 14, and lock the bar so as to maintain the slide 9 in the desired position.
The rear wall of'the housing 5, near the outer end thereof, has secured thereto a socket forming member 22, and adapted to receive the vertically disposed inner portion 23 of'an outwardly projecting supporting arm, which not only includes the vertical inner portion 23, but also an upwardly curved intermediate portion 24 and a horizontally disposed channel-shaped portion 25 having the sides thereof at the outer end in set and further having the forward end of the bottom formed with a vertically disposed ledge 26. The top of the channel shape portion, at each side has a vertically disposed abutment lug 27 Shiftably mounted in the channel shaped portion 25is a slide 28 provided at its rear end with a T-shape head 29 which projects out of the channel shape portion 25 and arranged within the latter is a spring 30 which maintains the slide against the top thereof and furthermore locks the slide in the position to which t has been adjusted.
The lugs 27 in connection with the heads 29 prevent complete withdrawal of the slide 28 unlessthe latter is forced downwardly to compress the spring 30.
The outer end of the slide 28has a semiposed rectangular slot, a slide mounted in the housing and having a shank projecting through the longitudinal slot, and carried by and of greater width than the shank and provided with means to constitute a bearing for the pintle of a shade roller, an elongated barhaving one edge provided with spaced teeth and extending through said rectangular slot into said housing, said bar having a reduced inner end extending through said slide, said end upset to provide a swivel connection between the .bar
and slide, said bar capable of being shifted to adjust the slide and to overlap one of the walls of said rectangular'slot to maintain theslide in adjusted position, and a handle on the outer end of the bar.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses. I
