To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY SCIIEIDING, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Homestead, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to curtain and shade fixtures, and the objects of my invention are to provide a simple and inexpensive fixture for supporting a curtain shade roller and a curtain pole, and to provide a fixture of the above type with an adjustable arm that permits of the fixture being used in connection with window, door and alcove frames of various widths.

Further objects of this invention are to provide a fixture of the above type that can be easily and quickly placed in engagement with a frame without resorting to the use of nails, screws or similar detachable fastening means, and to accomplish the above results by a device that is durable, stamped and pressed from sheet metal, susceptible to any desired finish and highly efficient for the purposes for which it is intended.

lVith the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.

Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the fixture, Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, partly broken away and partly in section, Fig. 3 is an end view of an arm forming part of the fixture, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a detached nut.

A fixture in accordance with this invention comprises an oblong plate 1 having a longitudinal slot 2. The upper edge of the plate 1 is provided with integral hangers 3 that are at right angles to the rear face of the plate 1, said hangers having the ends thereof provided with depending prongs 4t. These hangers are adapted to rest upon the upper edge of a frame 5 with the prongs 1 engaging in the frame or beyond the same.

The lower edge of the plate 1 has a dc pending extension 6 provided with a rearwardly extending hanger 7 similar to the hangers 3, and this hanger engages the side of the frame 5. The hangers cooperate in retaining the plate 1 upon the f 'ame with the outer end of the plate protruding from the frame.

Adjustably mounted in the slot 2 of the plate 1 is a rectangular nut 8 having a circular head 9, the head 9 engages the rear face of the plate 1 and the nut 8 protrudes from the slot Q.

Mounted upon the nut S is the inner end 10 of an arm 11, the inner end of said arm being bent at right. angles to the body of the arm and given a half twist. The inner end of the arm has a rectangular opening 12 to receive the nut 8 and the inner end of said arm is retained upon the nut by a saucer-shaped resilient washer 13 and a screw 14. The screw 1-41: is screwed in the nut S to compress the washer 13 and said washer serves as a nut lock for preventing the screw 14 from lmscrewing after having been tightened. By tightening the screw 14.- the head 9 of the nut 8 is drawn into frictional contact with the rear face of the plate 1 and the arm 1.1 is firmly held in its adjusted position. The outer end of the arm 11 is given a double twist and then bent to provide a hook-shaped support 15 for the end of a curtain pole 1(3. The arm 11. adjacent to the inner end 10 thereof has a slot or aperture 17 to acconnnodate the pintle 18 of a curtain shade roller 19. Since the end of the plate 1 protrudes from the side edge of the frame 5, the arm 11 can be shifted to the outer end of the plate and with two fixtures upon the frame, a curtain shade roller or curtain pole can be supported that corresponds to the entire width of the window frame.

The fixture in its entirety can be made of light and durable metal and finished to harmonize with the frame in connection with which it is used.

What I claim is 1. A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a supporting plate, an arm formed with a flat strip of material having its inner portion bent horizontally to provide a right angularly disposed depending portion positioned against the front of the plate, means extending through the depending portion of said arm for detachably connecting the latter to the plate, said arm at said bend torsionally twisted to provide a part disposed at right angles with respect to said depending portion and having an upper and a lower edge, the upper edge of said part arranged in a plane above the top of the supporting plate and provided with means for supporting the pintle of a shade roller, said arms further torsionally twisted intermediate its ends to provide a part with a pair of side edges, said last mentioned part curved upwardly to provide a seat, said arm having its outer terminus formed with a bead.

2. A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a rectangular plate provided with a longitudinally extending slot, a rear- I wardly extending hanger at one end of the top edge of said plate and formed with a depending prong, a rearwardly extending hanger projecting from the top edge of the plate approximately centrally thereof and provided with a depending prong, an extension projecting from the lower edge of the plate in proximity to one end thereof, a rearwardly extending hanger projecting from the outer edge of said extension at the lower edge thereof and provided with an inwardly extending tongue, said last mentioned tongue positioned inwardly with respect to one end edge of said plate, and a support connected to and projecting forwardly from said plate.
