Description

J. H. DEITZ.
CURTAIN FIXTURE.
APPLIoATIoN FILED Nov. 1o. 1911.
Patenuted Apr. 2, 1912.
INVENTOR J/ r7/ NTED STATES PATENT FFICE.
JOHN H.' DEITZ, 0F ALLENPORT, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. Dnrrz, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Allenport, in the county of fashington and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying' drawing.
This invention relates to curtain fixtures, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a strong and durable metallic pole to which curtains can be easily and quickly attached, without the use of rings, pins, or similar fastening means.
Another object of this invention is to provide a curtain fixture that will present a neat and attractive appearance in connection with a window frame, door frame or alcove frame.
A further object of this invention is to provide a pole that can be stamped or pressed from sheet metal and nickel-plated or finished to harmonize with the finish of a frame or fixtures associated with the frame.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing wherein Figure l is a front elevation of the curtain fixture. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of the fixture, and Fig. 4t is a horizontal sectional view of a portion of the same.
The reference numeral 1 denotes a plate having the upper and lower edges thereof bent inwardly in proximity to each other and in a plane in parallelism with said plate, the edges of said plate rounding ofl' whereby the plate will present a neat and finished appearance. The plate l has the ends thereof reduced to provide straps 2 and these straps are curved rearwardly to form brackets 3 that are secured to a frame or suitable support by screws or other fastening means extending through the openings 4 of said brackets. One of the brackets Specification. of Letters Patent.
Application led November 10, 1911.
Patented Apr. 2, 1912.
Serial No. 659,647.
i has a slot 5 and the other' bracket an opening 6, said slot and said opening accommodating the pintles of a curtain shade roller (not shown).
Movably mounted upon one of t-he straps 2 is a link 7 and pivotally connected to said link is the curved end 8 of a bar 9, said bar having the longitudinal edges thereof bent forwardly into a plane approxin'iately parl allel with the bar 9. The bar 9 corresponds in length to the plate 1 and has the opposite end thereof curved to provide a hook 10 that is engaged by a link or keeper 11 slidably mounted upon the strap 2 at the opposite end of the fixture from the link 7.
The upper ends of curtains 12 are draped over the bar 9 when said bar is in an open position, and then said bar is swung to a closed position to bind the curtains against the longitudinal edges of the plate 1, as best shown in Fig. 3. The longitudinal edges of the bar 9 confront the longitudinal edges of the plate 1 and curtains or draperies are frictionally held by the bar 9 against the edges of the plate l, when the hook 10 of said bar is engaged by the link or keeper 11.
lt will be observed that the plate 1 and the integral brackets thereof can be stamped or pressed from sheet metal, also the bar 9, it being only necessary to place the links 7 and 11 upon the straps 2 and connect the end of the bar to the link 7. The fixture is then complete and as it is made of very few parts easily assembled, the fixture can be manufactured at a minimum cost.
l/Vhat I claim is 1. A curtain fixture comprising a plate having the ends thereof reduced to provide straps and integral brackets, links carried by said straps and a bar pivotally connected to one of said links and adapted to be held by the other of said links in parallelism with said plate.
2. A curtain fixture comprising a plate having the longitudinal edges thereof bent into proximity to each other, said plate having the ends thereof reduced to provide curved straps and integral brackets adapted to support the pintles of a curtain shade roller, links carried by said straps and a bar pivotally connected to one of said links In testimony whereof I aiiix my signaand adapted to be held by the other of said ture in the presence of two Witnesses. links in parallelism With the bent edges of said plate, said bar having the longitudinal JOHN H' DEITZ edges thereof bent into proximity to each Vit-nesses:
other to confront the longitudinal bent ROBERT GAMBOL,
edges of said plate. MAX H. SnoLovrrz.
