CURTAIN SHADE AND POLE FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 20, 1913.
Application filed February 9, 1912. Serial No. 676,636.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. LEAOH, Jr., a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Vvheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Shade and Pole Fixtures, of which the following. is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing,
p This invention relates to a curtain shade and pole fixture, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive fixture consisting of comparatively few parts that can be adjusted whereby the fixture can be used in cdnnection with window, door and alcove frames of various widths, the fixture presenting a neat appearance and susceptible to any desired ornamentation.
A further object of this invention is to provide a combined curtain shade roller and curtain pole fixture that can be made of wire and easily placed in engagement with a window frame to firmly support the curtain shade or a curtain pole.
I attain the above objects by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the fixture, and Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.
A fixture in accordance with this invention is made of rigid wire and comprises two members designated A and B, the member A comprising two parallel arms 1 having the loop portions thereof bent to provide forwardly extending brackets 2 having slots 3 to receive the pintle, 1 of a curtain shade roller 5. The inner ends of the arms 1 terminate in eyes 6, and the uppermost arm is bent to provide a loop 7, whereby the member A can be secured to a frame by a nail or other fastening means.
The member B comprises arms Ssimilar to the arms 1 and these arms extend through the eyes 6 and are provided with eyes 9 to receive the arms 1. The member B also has a loop 10and a bracket 11 similar to the loop 7 and the bracket 2, the bracket 11 being shaped to provide an eye 12 that receives the other pintle of the curtain shade roller 5.
projecting arm 17 having a hook-shaped support 18, the supports being shaped to hold the ends of a curtain pole.
From the foregoing it will be observed that the members A and B can be used independently of the curtain pole supports for holding acurtain shade roller, and that the curtain pole supports can be easily attached to the members A and B for supportmg a curtain pole in advance of the curtain shade roller. With the members A and B slidably connected together, the fixture can be extended whereby it can be used in connection with frames of various widths.
What I claim is A fixture for the purpose set forth comprising a pair of shade roller supports each consisting of a length of wire bent upon itself to provide a pair of parallel arms, the ends of the arms of each support overlapping and slidably connected to the arms of the other support, each of said supports having its outer portion bent forwardly at right angles to provide a bracket, the top wall of each of said brackets bent downwardly intermediate its ends to form a bearing for the pintle of a shade roller combined with a pair of curtain pole supports, each including a vertically disposed portion extending at the rear and overlapping the front of a pair of arms inwardly of a bracket for connecting said arms together, each of said curtain pole supports further including an upwardly disposed right angular portion projecting from the top of the vertically disposed portion and terminatingin a supporting loop positioned in a plane above the plane of said arms.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES w. LEACI-I, JR.
