SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent N0- 706,093, dated August 5, 190 2.

To all'whom it may concern.-

' Be it known .that L'THoMAs BLAIR Now- LIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saxton, in the county of Bedfcrd and-State of Pennsylvania, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Shade-Holders and- Ourtain-Poles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to fixtures for window shades and curtains, and'has for its object to provide an inexpensive and reliable device whereby a shade may be fitted to windows of varying widths without cutting it and a lace curtain be readily hung to suit the position of the shade.

The invention consists also in certain details of construction and novelties of combination and arrangement of parts, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claim.

In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the upper part of a window and frame equipped with a shade-holder and curtainbracket constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of one of the combined shade-fixtures and ourtain-pole supports.

Like letters of reference mark the same parts wherever they occur in the figures of the drawings.

Referring to the drawings by letters, A indicates the shade-fixture, consisting of a single piece of sheet metal bent forward at its outer end, forming a flange B at right angles,

to the body of the fixture, in which flange is formed the bearing (J for the pintle of the shade-roller. The lower edge is bent forward and upward, as at O, and an ear or lug D is provided at the center of the upper edge in the same plane as the body and the upper edge, on each side of the ear D, bent reversely to the lower edge,as shown at E, the two edges thus forming flanges to inclose the upper and lower edges of a strip H, whichjmay be slid-.

The end flange B abuts against the outer end of flanges G and E, forming an outer end finish and preventing the strip H from slip ping endwise when the fixture is in position.

The fixtures may be secured to the windowframe by screws or nails through lugs or cars D, or the strip H may be secured to the'window-frame and the fixture adjusted thereon to the width of the shade and secured.

I indicates a bracket secured to the flange B and provided with a curved seat J for a curtain-pole K.

By means of this invention the fixtures can be adjusted to suit the width of the shade, and the pole-brackets are adjusted with the fixtures, and the curtain may be readily pulled aside without danger'of the balls leaving the bore in the pole.

While I have illustrated and described what I consider to be the best means now known to me for carrying out my invention, I do not wish to be understood as restricting myself to the exact forms and constructions shown, as many slight changes therein or varlatlons therefrom might suggest themselves to the or-' dinary mechanic, all of which would be clearly included within the limit and scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

As a new article of manufacture, a windowshade fixture comprising a plate having a perforated attachingear projecting centrally from its upper edge, and at its upper edge on each side of said attaching portion bent forwardly and downwardly, and at its lower edge bent forwardly and upwardly, thus forming two flanges upon the front face of the plate having grooves formed therein, the portion of the plate projecting beyond the ends of said flanges being bent forward at right angles thereto so as to close the outer end thereof and formed with'a slot extending downwardly from itsupper edge, and an arm secured to the bent end portion of the plate and extending upwardly and forwardly and formed at its upper end with a curved seat and twisted adj acent to said seat so'that the latter is formed of the flat portion of the arm, substantially as described.
