To a]! vi /mm it may concern lle it known that I, llwnonran MinoLYN, a Ukrainian, claimed as subject of the Einperor of Austria, residing at Charleroi, in the county of ,Vashington and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful. Improvements in Curtain-Pole and ,"Vindow-Shade Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a supporting means for shade rollers and curtain poles readilyat- 'achcd to a window casing without the employment of screws or nails ordinarily insorted in the inner face of a casing, the de vice being readily adjustable for accommd dating poles and shade rollers of difierent lengths and being easily detached from the window casing whenever desired.

A further object of the invention is to provide a shade roller and holder that possesses great strength, is easy and inexpensive to manufacture, and by means of which a roller and a pole may be quickly mounted upon a window casing without in any manner mutilating the front face thereof, the device also presenting a neat and artistic appearance.

Zlhe section 10 comprises a plate 13 adapted for flatly engaging the forward face of the top piece 12 and has a sharpened angular flange 14- at its lower edge for engag the lower edge 15 of said top piece 12. An u nvardly projecting reduced portion 16 of the plate 13 terminates in a threaded shaft or bolt 17 projecting above the upper edge 18 of the top piece 12 when the holder is positioned thereon.

The roller holding section 11 consists of a plate 19 slidably mounted upon the plate 13 between opposite forwardly projecting guides or flanges 20 of the plate 135, while a substantially L-shaped flange 21. at the top of the plate 19 has a central perforation 522 through which the bolt 17 is freely posi' tioned. flange 2]. is slmrpened for cutting into the upper edge 18 of the top piece 12 when the sections 10 and 11 are drawn together by means of a thumb nut 24 threaded upon the bolt 17 and adapted to bear against the flange 521. It will be evident that when the plate 13 flatly engages the top 12 with the plate 19 slidably positioned uponthe plate 13 with the sharpened flanges 14 and 23 positioned beneath and above the top piece 12, the turn ing of the nut 24: downwardly upon the bolt 1.? in contact with the flange 21 forces said edges 14 and 23 into firm holding contact with the lower and upper edges 15 and 18 respectively of the top piece 12 of the window casing. An arm is carriedsubstantially centrally by the plate '13 and projects outwardly thereof, having a notch 26 adapted to receive the terminal pintle 27 of a shade roller of the usual construction such as 28 for mounting the shade 29 thereofin a serviceable position forwardly of the window casing, V V

A bracket 30 is secured to the plate 19 of the upper section 11 provided with a U- shaped socket 31 within which a curtain pole 32 may removably rest. The bracket 30 is at one side 01 the center of the plate 19 and arm 25 being centrally ot the plate 7 13, this arrangement permits better access to the arm in manipulating the shade roller. The arm 25 and bracket 30 are secured to the plates 13 and 19 respectively in any desired manner such as by integral rivets or holdfast means 33 secured through the respective plates, 1t belng only essentlal that such holdi'ast means do not project rearwardly of theplates so as to lnteri'ere 1n any manner with the fiat engagement of the plate 13 with the top piece 12 or the sliding engagement of the two plates 13 and 19. When two of the holders are secured to the top piece 12 of a window casing, a curtain pole 32 may be readily positioned within the sockets '31 of the brackets 30 thereofljwhile a shade roller 28 may be readily attached in the usual manner to the opposite arms 25.

What I claim as new is A bracket of the class described comprising vertically disposedinner and outer overlapping plates, outwardly -turned guide flanges formed on, the sides of V the inner plate slidingly securing the plates together, the outer ends of the plates being provided with inwardly-turned portions and securing meml ers projecting from the inwardlyturned portions adapted to engageithe-edges of the'casing, theinner plate being in flat contact with the casing to guard against lateral tilting of the bracket, a partly flat and partly screw-threaded shank on the inner plate extending through the inwardly-turned portion of the outer plate and disposed. in flatcontact withrthe casing, a nut on the screw-threaded part of the shank adapted to be screwed against the outer face of said last-named inwardly-turned portion, and a shade'or curtain supporting member carried by one of said plates.
