Description

waited tate @anni @Biblica CRANE, OF SAME PLACE.
Leners Patent No. 96,11e, dated october 2o, .1869.
`IMPQROVED MUFI AND COLLAR-BOX.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Faber-it and making put of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
-Be' it known that I, JAMES 1.J`0NEs, of Bloomfield, in the county of Essex, and State of New J ersey, have invented a new and improved Muff' and Collar-Box; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speciiicatiou.
This invention reiatesto a newand improved method` ef constructing paper boxes for containing and preserv-A ing fur muifs and collars, whereby the same are more conveniently, compactly, and safely putaway, when not needed for use.
It consists of a cubical-formed paper box, having on the inside ofthe same a partition or partitions, whereby said box is divided i'nto separate compartments.
In the accompanying plate of drawings- Figure 1 represents a central vertical section oi' my invention,.taken in the line x x, g. 2.
Figure 2 is a plan view ofthe same, the cover being removed to show the inside.
A is the box.
B is a compartment in the same.
C is another compartment in the same.
D is the cover.
al is a partition.
a2 is a cylindrical-formed partition, by means of which compartment G is made. r a is a mat or support for partition a?. e is one end of the box. e is the other end of the same. The box A is made of paper or pasteboard, in the 'form ot'- a cube, of' sufiicient size to contain a ladys fur muii` and collar, o r of any desired size.
Within said box, and secured to the bottom and sides of the saine, and at a suitable distance from one end of the box A, as shown in the drawing, so as to leave room to contain a ladys fur cape or collar, when the same is folded upis a partition, a, which, with the end of the box e, forms the compartment B.
Between the partition al and the end c of the box A, and'of a diameter equal to the distance from the partition .1 tothe end e', is a cylindrical hollow tube, c, made of paste-boards, which said tube a? forms the hollow cylindrical compartments C. Upon the top of thel tube a? is a mat or support, a, secured by paste to the sides ofthe box A, and having a circular hole in the centre of the same equal in diameter to the diameter of the tube a2,into which hole in said mat er support a, the top of tube a2-v is pasted, or otherwise secured, so as to support said tube in a vertical position, and so as, also, to cover neatly all the inside of the said box A, except the compartments C and B.
Said box A is provided with a suitable cover, D, by means of which the whole is covered up, and kepti'roni insects and dust.
Constructed as above described, separate apartments B and C are formed, in which maybe placed a ladys fur collar and fur inuit, in a light, neat, and cheap box, the advantages of which are, that said collar and muli may be more cheaply and securely disposed of when not in use, and whereby the same are kept from insects and dust, as above described.
Other compartments may, in like manner, bc iliade in a box, A, when necessari', to contain other articles ot' dress made ot` fin'.
Having thus described .my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A rectangular paper or pasteboard box, A, havini,r within it a rectangular apartment, B, and cylindrical apartment C, as described.
The above' specification of my invention signed by me, this day of October, 1867.
.JAMES P. JONES.
