To all whom t'tmay concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN WV. TYIsKA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Meridian, in the county of Logan, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Envelope; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in envelops of the class wherein provision is made for preventing surreptitious access thereto, and has for one of its objects to improve the construction and increase the efliciency and utility of devices of this character.
With this and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereafter shown and de scribed and then specifically pointed out in the claims; and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, Figure 1 is a view of the blank from which the envelop is constructed. Fig. 2 is a view of the envelop in condition to receive the contents. Fig. 3 is a view of the envelop fully closed. Fig. 4 is a transverse section, enlarged, on the line H of Fig. 3.
The improved envelop may be constructed of any required size and of any suitable material, and com rises a body 10 having a relatively long entl flap 11 and a relatively short end flap 12, the end flaps foldable over the body 10 with the free end of the shorter flap provided with adhesive material and sealed upon the free end of the longer end flap. By forming the end flaps of unequal length the relatively large solid portion of the longer end flap is located opposite the central portion of the body 10, and the longer end flap is provided with a cleft 1 1 which is located centrally of the body 10 near its lower edge when the end flaps are folded. The shorter end flap 12 is also pro vided with a small oblique cleft 15, while the longer end flap 11 is provided with a similar oblique smaller cleft 16. Projecting from the lower edge of the body 10 is a back flap 17 equal in width'to the body, but less in length than the length of the body, and provided with two small tongues 1819 projecting from its sides and adapted to be passed through the smaller clefts 1516 after the back flap is folded upon the folded end flaps, as represented in Fig. 2. The side edges of the back flap 17 are provided with adhesive material, represented at 20-21, while the opposite faces of the small tongues 1819 are likewise provided with adhesive material, so that the back flap may be sealed upon the folded end flaps and the tongues 1819 sealed against the inner faces of the end flaps, as indicated in Fig. 2.
The back flap 17 is provided with a cleft 22, and projecting from the free narrower end of the back flap is a tongue 23 having converging sides, as shown. The tongue 23 is foldable over the back flap 17 along the line 24:, while the outer portion of the tongue is foldable along the line 25.
lVith a blank constructed as shown in Fig. 1, the envelop is disposed in position for receiving its contents by folding the longer end flap 11 over the body 10 and folding the back flap 17 over the partly folded end flap and folding the tongue 23 over the end flap 11 and inserting the outer portion of the tongue 28 through the cleft lt and then tucking the shorter end flap 12 between the back flap and the adjacent end of the end flap 11, and likewise inserting the smaller tongues 18-19 through the clefts 15-16 and sealing the parts together. A closure flap 26 extends from the opposite side of the body 10 from the back flap 17, and is provided with the usual adhesive material, indicated at 27, and extending from the free edge of the flap 26 is a tongue 28. Secured at 29 to the tongue 28 is a metal strip 30 having a hooked terminal 31, as shown in Fig. 2. This disposes the envelop in condition to receive the contents, and after the contents have been inserted the closure flap 26 is folded over the folded back flap and end flaps and the tongue 28 and the metal strip 30 inserted through the cleft 22 and the hooked terminal of the metal strip 30 forced through the material of the envelop at the fold 25, which movement will cause the hooked terminal 31 of the metal strip to engage around the body of the tongue 23 as illustrated in Fig. 4E. Pressure is then applied to the back flap 17 opposite the tongue 31 to compress the latter and thus effectually prevent its removal without the destruction of the envelop. It will thus be noted that a simply constructed and secure envelop is constructed, which will effectually protect the contents and prevent access thereto without detection, as any attempt to open the envelop will result in the fracture of some of the parts, especially the part which is held by the metal member.
The improved envelop is simple in construction, can be inexpensively manufac-' tured, and applied for all the various uses for whlch envelops are-usually employed.

An envelop comprising a body and end flaps foldable over the body,'one of the end flaps tongue extending from the free end of the back flap and foldable over-the folded end flaps and with the terminal thereof passed through the cleft of the end flap, a closure flap provided with'atongue, and a bendable metal strip projecting from the closure flap tongue, said closure flap tongue insertible through the cleft of the back flap and the metal strip thereof passed through the tongue of the back flap and compressed thereon.
2. A11 envelop comprising a body and end flaps foldable over the body, each of said end having a cleft, a back flap foldable over the body and provided with a cleft, a-
j flaps having a relatively short cleft and one of the end flaps having a relatively long cleft, a'back'flap foldable over the body and provided with relatively small tongues eX- tending from its side edges and with a cleft, a tongue extending from the free end of the back flap and foldable over the foldedend flaps and with the terminal thereof passed through the cleft of the end flap, and with the smaller tongues'ofthe back' flap passing through the smaller clefts of theend flaps, a closure flap provided with a tongue, and a bendable metal strip projecting from the closure flap tongue, said closure flap tongue insertible through the-cleft of the back "flap and the metal strip thereof passed through the tongue of the back flap and compressed thereon.
