EUGENE PLOURDE, OF PATERSON, NEW JERSEY.
PENCIL-HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGENE PLoURon, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Paterson, 1n the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pencil-Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to pencil holders and particularly to that type which are adapted to be secured within the users pocket.
The object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple, cheap and efficient and which forms a double bearing for the fabric of the pocket whereby the device may be properly retained and prevented from falling out.
The pencil holder is preferably used upon an advertising device such as is shown in the drawings, wherein,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the de vice; Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of the body with an attachment shown in Fig. l, swung thereunder; Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1;
eferring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents the body which may be of any suitable formation, and here shown as comprising a portion of an advertising device and the body has secured to it, intermediate in length, a clip 2 having formed thereon in 'ardly turned parallel fingers 3 arranged on either side of an intermediate clamping finger t which is also bent up from the body of the clip. These fingers 3 are adapted to receive pencils or pens in Specification of Letters Patent.

such a manner that they lie parallel with each other along the face of the body 1 and outside of the linger hen the device is placed in the pocket, the fabric is engaged by the finger 4 and the top of the fingers 3 so that these latter fingers form a double bearing point for the fabric and the finger l clamps the same in the recesses between the fingers 3. It will be thus seen that the double pencil holder is secured and at the same time a firm clamp is formed for holding the device in the pocket.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention, as defined in the ap- Pelltltitl claim.
\Vhat I: claim is:
An advertising device comprising a body, a pencil holding clip riveted to the body and comprising a double pair of parallel fingers integral with the cli and a finger integral with the clip extenting in a direction at right angles to the before mentioned clips and intermediate the same and adapted to hold the device in the pocket of the wearer.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
EUGENE PLOURDE.
