Description

D. MARINSKY. COLLAR ATTAOHING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 26, 1909.
Patented Jan. 4, 1910.
ATTORNE rs ANDIEW- I. alum 00.. PHD'D-LIYNOORAPMERG.WASHINGEON, n G.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. I
DAVIS MARINSKY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO \VILHELMINA LOWRIE, OF
NEW YORK, N. Y.
COLLAR-ATTACHING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 4, 1910.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVIS Mnnmsnr, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Attaching Devices, of which the fol lowing is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to devices for securing the ends of ladies collars together,
also for securing the collar to the neck-band of the waist or other body garment at the back and for securing the collar to the neck-band or neck portion of the waist or other body garment at the front, and for other and similar purposes; and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class which is simple in construction and convenient of manipulation.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a back view of my improved fastening device; Fig. 2 an edge view thereof; Fig. 3 a view showing the method of using the device; and, Fig. l a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing a modification.
In the drawing forming part of this specification, I have shown at a in Fig. 3 a ladys collar composed of lace or otherlight .fabric, and in the practice of my invention I provide a fastening device 1) which con sists of a plate or strip 5 of any preferred material such as celluloid, rubber, silver or other metal.
The strip 6 is provided at one side and at the opposite end portions thereof with two inwardly directed hooks c, and said hooks are off-set from the strip 6 as clearly shown in Fig. 2 and the points thereof are curved backwardly as shown at c and terminate rearwardly of a central raised portion 0 of the device.
In the form of construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, I provide two wires or rods 0 which range longitudinally of the strip 7) and cross each other at c and the hooks c are formed from the end portionsof said wires or rods and the bending of said hooks backwardly or toward the center of the strip If forms loop-shaped members 0 at the ends of said wires or rods, and said parts are held in position by hooks or tongues Z) formed from the material of the strip b and folded around the loop-shaped members 0 as clearly indicated in Figs. 1 and 2. With this construction the central part of the wires or rods 0 at 0" projects from the longitudinal central portion of the strip 0- as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and the end portions of said wires or rods adjacent to the hooks c are bent outwardly as shown at c and the points of the hooks c as shown at c are bent baclnvardly so that they terminate adjacent to the strip I) and rearwardly of the central raised portion or part cc* of the device. With this construction the device may be used for securing a collar as shown in Fig. 3 in such manner as to prevent the hooks c or the points thereof from coming in contact with the neck of the wearer, and said device may be used for many other purposes in connection with garments or fastening various articles thereto.
The construction shown in Fig. 4 is the same as that shown in Figs. 1 and 2 except that only one of the wires or rods 0* is employed, and only one of the hooks 0 at each end of the device, but the central portion of the wire or rod 0' is set out from the strip Z) and the points c of the hooks c are curved backwardly in the same manner as in Figs. 1 and 2, and the operation of this form of device will be the same as with that shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A device of the class described comprising an oblong strip of material provided on one side and in the opposite ends thereof with hooks which are offset therefrom and the points of which extend in the direction of the middle part of said strip or member and are curved backwardly toward said strip or member, the central part of said strip or member being provided with a longitudinally ranging oifset device which extends outwardly beyond. the points of said hooks.
A device of the class described comprising an oblong strip or member, a wire or rod secured to the back thereof, longitudinally thereof and the ends of which are formed into hooks which are off-sets t-hereas my invention I have singed my name in from and the points of which extend backpresence of the subscribing Witnesses this wai'dly in the direction of said strip ornieni- 25th day of May 1909.
her, that part of said Wire or rod between DAVIS MARINSKY. said hooks being set out from said strip or WVitnesses: member beyond the points of said hooks. H. R. CANFIELD,
In testimony that I claim the foregoing C. E. MULREANY.
