Description
A. A. FELIX. BELT HOLDER.
APPLIOATION FILED SEPTQIZ, 1908.
935,840, Patented Oct. 5, 1909-.
UNITED STATES PATN @FFIGE.
ARTHUR A. FELIX, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BELT-HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR A. FELIX, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Belt-Holders, of which the follow ing is a full, clear, and exact specification.
My invention relates to an improved holder for belts and has for its object to produce an easily attachable yet eflicient means for securely holding the belt in place by means of its clutching feature, as will hereinafter be fully shown and explained.
Figure 1 illustrates a front. elevation of a buckle attached to a belt embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of a belt, attached to a pair of trousers illustrating my holder in operative position. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of my holder. Fig. l shows a modified form of attaching my holder to the belt.
Similar numerals indicate like parts in all of the drawings.
Numeral 1, shows the usual style of belt buckle frame and 2, the tongue thereof.
3, is the usual leather strap attached to the buckle and 4, illustrates the usual fastening loop.
5, illustrates the upper portion of a pair of trousers in perspective with the belt attached.
6, shows one of the usual loops attached to trousers to aid in holding the belt.
My invention consists of a hook-shaped holder or clutch bent from a single piece of suitable spring wire so as to form a tongue 7, a semi-circular bend 8, interlocking therewith and two outwardly bent ends 9, 9.
The operation of my device is as follows:
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 12, 1908.
Patented Oct. 5, 1909.
Serial No. 452,782.
The outwardly bent ends 9, 9, are either slipped into the loop of the leather strap or band surrounding the belt buckle frame or are placed on the inner side of the strap or band and the ends bent over the same, as shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings, so that the tongue 7, and the curvature 8, will be underneath the under side of the tongue of the belt buckle-or when the belt is worn will face the garment. Having thus fastened the holder and assuming that the belt is drawn around the upper portion of the trousers, as illustrated in Fig. 2, it is only necessary to slip the tongue 7, over the outwardly overlapping trousers flap, where by reason of the interlocking means exercised by the curvature S, the holder will securely hold the belt in place without in the least manner interfering with the closing means of the trousers. Moreover, after the device has once been attached it will hold itself in place without necessitating further adjustment.
Having now fully described the object of my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In combination with a belt, comprising a belt buckle and a belt band, a hook-shaped holder having a tongue and a shank forming a semicircular bend cooperating there with and attachable to a garment worn under the belt, said shank having outwardly bent ends attachable to the band of the belt.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ARTHUR A. FELIX.
Vitnesses ADoLPH F. DINSE, CHARLES A. SOHEUBER.
