PIPE HANGER.
APPLIUATION FILED JAN. 16. 1909.

HENRY C. FOLGER, 0F MEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO ACME MANUFACTUR- ING COMPANY, OF BANGOR, MAINE, A CORPORATION OF MAINE.
PIPE-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 21, 1909.
Application led January 16, 1909. Serial No. 472,595.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY C. FoLGER, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Medford, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for securing a vertical pipe against a side wall or into a corner, the same being adjustable for various sized pipes, the object being` to secure a chea device of this class which while adjustable for the various sizes of pipes will be effective in its operation.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be readily understood by reference to the description of the drawings and to the claims hereinafter given.
Of the drawings: Figure 1 represents an elevation of a device embodying the features of this invention. Fig. 2 represents a section of the same, the cutting plane being on line 2 2 on Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents a plan of a device of this construction adapted to retain a pipe against a flat wall, and Fig. 4 represents a similar view showing the device adapted to retain the same pipe in a corner.
Similar characters designate like parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.
In the drawings, 10 represents a metal plate provided at one end with a flange 11 having a plurality of screw holes 12 therein by which it may be secured to any fixed member, the opposite end of which has a plurality of ears 13 extending therefrom. A similar member 14 is also provided having a flange 15 at one end in which are the screw holes 16 by which this member may be secured to any fixed member such as a wall,l
while throughout the main portion of said member are a plurality of pairs'of perforations or slits 11, 18, and 19, each pair being adapted to receive the pair of projecting ears 13 formed upon the member 10.
When the ears 13 have been passed through the slits 17 it is obvious that the two members are adjusted relative to each other to adapt them to retain the pipe 20 in the corner of a wall 21 as indicated in Fig. 4, the members 10 and 14 being secured to said wall by means of the screws or bolts 22.
When the members 10 and 14 have been adjusted relative to each other in this manner for the purpose of holding the pipe' 20 against the wall 21, the ears 13 are bent down onto the outer surface of the plate 14, as shown in Fig. 4, thus locking the two members securely together. Then the' ears 13 have been passed through the slits 18-18, it is obvious that the device is adapted to retain one size of pipe against the flat wall 23 while when the ears 13 are' inserted in the slits 1919 the device is adapted to retain a larger sized pipe in position against said wall 23, as indicated in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
By this construction a very effective device is provided for retaining the pipes in position which may be made very cheaply and easily adjustable for dierent sizes of pipes and adapted for various conditions of use.
It is believed that the operation and many advantages of the invention will be thoroughly apparent without any further description.
Having claim:
1. A device of the class described, consisting of two right-angled llexible members one end of each of which is curved and adapted to lit the other, one of said members being provided with a plurality of pairs of slits therethrough while the other is provided with a pair of ears adapted to pass through either pair of said slits and lock the two members together.
2. A device of the class described, consisting of two right-angled flexible members having at oneend curved portions adapted to overlap each other and at the other end means for attachment to a fixed member; and bendable means formed in said members for adjusting said members relative to each thus described my invention, I
' other and for locking them together in adand adapted to be bent over in oppositedi- 10 justed position. rcctions to lock the two members together.
' 3. A device of the class described, consist- Signed by me at 4E Post O'ice Sq., Boston, ing of two right-angled flexible members Mass., this 13th day of January,1909.
5l having at one end curved portions adapted HENRY F L ER to overlap each other and at the other end C O G means for attachment to a xed member; and 'Vltnesses: means formed 1n one of said members for EDNA C. CLEVELAND,
adjusting said members rela-tive to each other NATHAN C. LOMBARD.
