To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EDWARD How: and
'AnoLPn Wonus, citizens of the United States, and residents of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Brushes and Shoe-Polishers, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in a combination'brush and shoe polisher and consists in the novel arrangement, construction and combination of parts as will be fully hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of our invention is to construct a device consisting of a block having a strip of flexible material on which is supported a woolly substance by which the dust can be removed from the shoes and a brush which can be used for the hat or clothes, the same being so arranged as to be compact and readily carried inthe pocket.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of our complete invention showing the same in position to be used for dusting the shoes. Fig. 2 is a central horizontal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is an end view of the same. Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view. Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail sectional view of a portion' of the frame and the flexible material supported thereby.
In the construction of our invention, we provide a bod portion 10 being hollowed out to form t e pocket 11, in said pocket being inserted a brush 12. The bottom ortion of the body is concave as indicated by the numeral 13; the opposite portion of the body being convex as indicated by the numeral 14. In each end of the body is in serted a metallic sleeve 15 in which rests the ends 16 of the frame 17, the said sleeve act in as bearings for the frame permitting said frame to be swung around so as to bring the flexible material 18 in opposite position on the body.
The end 19 of the flexible material is securely fastened to the body 10 (see F l), the opposite end being 100 ed aroun the frame and securely fastened by stitching and over this looped edge is placed a metallic covering 20 (see Fig. 5) which assists in supporting the same as well-as to prevent wearing.
On one side of the flexible material is placed a woolly substance 21 such as a strip of sheep wool or the like and when the device is not to be used the frame is so arranged as to permit the woolly substance to lodge within the concave surface of the body as shown in Fi 4, providing a'free smoot surface. The rame is held in its locked position by contactin with the latch 22 formed on the handle 23 o the brush 12.
The essential feature of our invention is the combination of a brush together with a device that can be used for removing the dust from the shoe and arranged in such a compact manner that the same can be readily and easily placed in the pocket.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim is:
1. A device of the class described comprising a body, having its one side concave, the opposite convex; a strip of flexlble material connected to the bod a strip of woolly substance carried by t e flexible material; a frame supported on the body, and carrying one edge of the flexible mater al; substantially as specified.

A device of the class described comprising a flattened body; a frame movably mounted on said bod a strip of flexible material provided wit woolly-substance attached to the frame and bod and so arranged'that the frame toget or with the strip can be reversed from one side of the body to the other and a latch for supporting I the frame, substantially as s ecified.
