Letters Patent No. 93,444, dated August 10, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN SEWING-MACHINE 'IAELE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
'To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS E. HUNT, of La Fayette, in the county of Tippecanoe, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and improved Sewing-Machine Table and Cover; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a vertical transverse section of my improved sewing-machine table and cover,

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new sewing-machine table and cover, so constructed that the cover, when swung open, will be out of the Way of the table, and that the latter will be enlarged when not covered.
The invention consists in the application of a separate leaf, by which the .table and cover are connected, said leaf being so applied as to form a part of the cover when the same is closed, a part of the table when the cover is swung open, and that the cover, when swung open, will be entirely out of the way of the table, leaving the same large and unencumbered.
A, in the drawing, represents the table of a sewingmachine.
B is the cover of the same.
0 is a plateor leaf, hinged, at a, to the rear edge of the table, and, at I), to the back of .the cover, under a shoulder, -c, of the same.
The leaf 0 thus forms the connection between the table and cover.
When the latter is closed, as in fig. 1, the leaf fits against its back, and forms part of the cover, so as to leave the table as small as possible.
\Vhcn the cover is ,swung open, as by dotted lines in fig. 1, the leaf swings horizontal, to form an extension of the table, while the cover swings entirely down, out of the way, so as not even to obstruct the light on the table.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent The device 0, for extending and forming a part of a sewing-machine table, as herein shown and described.
