Description
dntrd @gmir-t v @anni @Biblica Letters Patent No. 92,519, dated July 13, 1869.
-IMPRovED ADLIUSTABLE BRACKET.
The' Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part of the same.
Tocll whom' it may concern Be it known that I, J osEPH H. DAVIS, of Chillicothe, Livingston county,'Missour, have invented a new and improved Adjustable Bracket; and I do .hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which vwill enable others skilled in the alt to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a front view of myimproved adjustable bracket.
Figure 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same, taken on the plane of the line :c a', fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section of the same, taken on the plane ofthe line y y, fig. 2.
Similar letters' of reference indicate corresponding parts. f This invention relates toa new clock-bracket, which 'is so arranged `that it can be readily attached to the wall"without marring the same,.and that it can also be' readily removed and adjusted to bring its surface Von a level.
A, in the drawing, vrepresents the body of the bracket, of which a is the top plate, b, the back plate, and c c are the side trusses.
B is a metal plate or bar, fastened to the wall by means df screws d, or otherwise.
From its lower part projects a screw, C, through a segmental slot, e, of the back plate b, while a notched pin, f, projects from lthe plate B, through the upper part of the back plate b.
Tombe back plate is pivoted a cam, g, with a spiral edge, so that it can be-turned to t inte one ofthe notches of the pin f, thus holding the upper part of the bracket close to or a suitable ,distance away from the plate B.
A nut, h,.1s fitted upon the screw O, a. suspended slotted plate, c', being interposed between it and'the plate b.
Gams j j are pivoted to the sides of the braces c,
near thelower end of the bracket, and other cams, k,
to the under side of the top plate a, all of these cams fitting through the back plate, as shown in fig. 3.
This bracket can be readily adjusted on the wall to beleveh A drawer, D, running on guides l 1,-Inay be arranged on the under side of the top plate, and can be provided with -a suitable catch, lm, whereby it is locked.
A' weighted cam, n, tol indicate the plumb position ofthe back plate, may be suspended from the top, as shown.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A i 1. An adjustable bracket, A, pivoted to the strip B, so that it can be transversely and longitudinally adjusted, substantially as herein shown and described. 2. The combination of the bracket A, cam g, and camsj la with the strip B, screw C, notched pin F, and
nut 71,' all combined and operating substantially as herein shown and described. The above specification of my invention me this 8th day of March, 1869. l
' JOSEPH H. DAVIS.
