INIPROVEMENT IN SASH-HOLDERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom tt 'may concern Be it known that I, R. M. THoMPsoN, of Coshocton, in the county of Coshocton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Window-Lock; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description cf the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. p
This invention relates to an improved.windowlock; and consists in the employment of a` screw-fastener, in connection` with an eccentric, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings- Figure l represents one form of my improved window-lock, and
Figure 2, a slight modication of the same.
To enable others skilled in the art to-make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A represents a plate, constructed of proper material and shape, which is secured to the window-sash in any proper manner.
B represents an eccentric, pivoted at b to the plate A, which also may be constructed of any desired form.
C represents a standard rising from the plate A, which furnishes a bearing for the screw D, which latter impinges against the eccentric B, when desired, as shown in tig. l.
In iig. 2 an eccentric of dii'erent form'is shown,
upon one side of which isv provided the serrated edge c, against which the screw impinges. If desired, the screw can be located directly upon the eccentric, and bear against the plate. Such an arrangement is shown -in red in g. 2.
The operation of my invention will be easily undei-stood. v
The sash having been set in any desired position, the eccentric is rotated slightly until it bears against the window-frame. It then may be fastened in that position by the screw.
I ain well aware that eccentrics, in various forms, have. been applied to window-sashes, but I am not aware that an eccentric has ever been used in connection with a fastener.
Having thus fully described my invention,
That I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
'lhe window-lock described, consisting essentiallyy of the eccentric B, and screw-fastener D, combined and arranged substantially in the manner described, for the purpose set forth.4
