y LE GRAND DOD-GE, OF SYRACUSEQNEW YORK.
Letters Patent No. 91,223, dated J M1929, 1869.
'vtPRovL-D CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and4 making part cf the same. l
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Ln GRAND DODGE, of Syra euse, in the county of' Onondaga, and State of Newv York, have invented a new vand useful Improvement in \Vindow-Ourtain Fixtures, and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear,l and exact description thereof', which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front view ofthe curtain and fixtures.
Figures 2, 3, and 4, are det-ail Views.
Similar letters of' reference indicate like parts.
'This invention relates to an improved device for holding the window-cord or tape, whereby the fixtures can he manufactured at a less cost than heretofore, as
hereinafter more f'ully described.
In the accompanying drawings- A is the curtain-roller, and
a e its gndgeons.
The bearings for these gudgeons consist in screws B, fig. 2, having heads l) of a. hook or bracket-form.
These bearings are cheaply made, the screw-thread B being cast with its head b of malleable iron; and they are also put up with less labor than bearings of ordinary construction.
The cord or tape C is held by a loop, D, fig. 1, made of thin sheet-metal. Y
The eye ot' the loop is made large enough', so that the tape is free when brought into said loop cl by a side movement; but the loop at D is made ot' a wedging or tapering form, as seen in tig. 3, so that by carrying the tape sidewise, it jams in the'narrow part of the loop.
The loop D being made of thin sheet-metahhas a degree of elasticity thatzimproves its holding-quality, although elasticity can be dispensed with in their construction. i
These loops are struck out of thin sheet-metal with great rapidity, a single blow shaping and completing a loop, and can be provided at a cost considerably less than those of the ordinary construction.
It may be modified so as to consist in a. flat piece, D, tig. 4, with its end turned out, to guide the cord behind it, and the cord be removed from the holder D, and replaced when the curtain is raised or lowered. However, l prefer the loop-form of holder, as shown in figs. l and 3.
By these means, I obtain a 4very cheap and simple set of fixtures, which are also put up with' the greatest facility.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, the spring-loop,
or clasp D, constructed as herein described, to receive A
