WINDOW-SHADE FIXTURE.
roeonae.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 17, 1914.
Application filed October 13, 1913. Serial No. 794,847.
To all whom it may Concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON C. KUDLA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window-Shade Fixtures; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent in- Figure 1 a front view of a window shade fixture constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a top or plan View of the adjusting mechanism, detached. Fig. 3 a side view of the same. Fig. 4: a vertical sectional view.
This invention relates to an improvement in window shade fixtures, and particularly to fixtures in which the shade is raised by means of a cord as distinguished from a springoperated roller. In the more general construction of window shade rollers as used at present a spring is arranged within the roller with pawls for holding it in various positions. These springs, however, are liable to break.
The object of this invention is to provide means for raising and lowering a shade by 'a cord and holding it at various points of adjustment; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
The shade roller 2 is a round member provided with the usual stud 3 at one end for engagement with an ordinary bracket 4: and connected with the opposite end of the roller and in line therewith is a drum 5. This drum is preferably mounted upon a which the drum stands.
pin 6 one end 7 of which is driven into the end of the roller 2 and this pin 6 is mounted in a double bracket 8 having outwardly extending arms 9 and 10 between Pivoted to the arms 9 and 10 is a yoke 11 carrying rollers 12 and 13 arranged parallel with the drum 5 and adapted to be held in close engagement with the drum by a spring 14 the lower end of which is connected with a finger 15 projecting inward from the lower edge of the bracket. One end of a cord 16 is secured to the drum 5 and so that when the shade 17 is drawn down the cord 16 will be wound upon the drum 5. lVhen it is desired to raise the shade, the cord 16 is drawn clownward turning the shade roller 2 and winding the shade l7 thereon. The rollers 12 and 13 prevent the shade from running down, and guide the cord as it is wound upon the drum and hold the shade at any point of adjustment.
I claim:
A window shade fixture comprising a roller, a drum projecting beyond one end thereof, a bracket formed with two outwardly projecting arms between which the drum is supported, a yoke pivotally connected with said arms, two rollers carried by said yoke parallel with said drum, a spring connected with said yoke and with said bracket, and a cord connected at one end to said drum.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANTON C. KUDLA.
