To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL MILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at I-Iominy, in the county of Osage and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Window- Shade and Curtain-Pole Holders, of which the following is a specification. I

My invention relates to a combined window shade and curtain pole holder, and my object is to provide a new and useful device of this character whereby a shade and a curtain may be lowered from the top of a window casing to admit air and light, and one in which the shade and the curtain may be swung entirely to one side of said window casing, so that access may be readily had to the window glass for cleaning purposes.

In order that the invention may be fully understood, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is an elevation of the fixture applied to a window casing and showing in dotted lines how the shade and the curtain pole are adjusted vertically. Fig. 2 is a broken plan View of the same, showing in dotted lines the manner in which the shade and the curtain pole may be swung away from the window. Fig. 3 is a broken side elevation of the fixture applied to a window casing.

Rod 3 is provided at its lower end with a handle 4, whereby it may be either adjusted vertically or rotated as above described.

In the drawing I have shown the sleeve 7 provided with a laterally-extending, threaded stud 10, to engage internal threads in the adjacent end of the pole 9. Sleeve 7 is also provided with an arm 11 to coact with a corresponding arm 12 at the opposite end of the pole 9, in supporting a shade roller B, one of said arms having a rectangular slot to receive the correspondingly shaped pin at one end of said shade roller, and the other arm having a circular hole to receive the trunnion at the opposite end of the shade roller.

When the upper window sash is lowered to admit air and light, the rod 3 is slid downward to the dotted position disclosed by Fig. 1, to lower the curtain pole and the shade roller, so that the shade and the curtain which they carry will not obstruct the light nor the air entering the opening left by the upper sash. When it is desired to gain access to the entire window to wash the same, or for any other purpose, the rod 3 is rotated to swing the curtain pole and the shade roller to one side, as indicated by the dotted lines, Fig. 2.

From the foregoing description it is obvious that I have provided a simple and inexpensive fixture which is well adapted for the purpose intended, and while I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention. I reserve the right to make such changes in the construction, proportion and arrangement of parts as properly fall within the spirit and scope of the claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
