Description

para naar;
Letters Patent No. 93,040, dated July 27, 1869.
IMPROVE!) DEVICE FOR SUSPEDNG- PICTURE-FRAMES AND MIRRORS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it mdyconcernr Be itknown that I, RUFUs E. BEAN, of Franklin, in the county of Merrimack, and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and improved Method of Hanging Picture-Frames; andl do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of' the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference markedthereon.
This invention relates to an improved method of suspending picture-frames at any desired angle; and' consists in attaching a corrugated piece of Wire vertically at each side of the back of a picture-frame, as will hereinafter more fully appear.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now describe its construction and operation, reference being had-to vthe accompanying drawing, showing a side elevation of the same.
A represents the frame, to the back of which are attached vertically, the corrugated wirel pieces B,'Whicli may be of any desired length, and .are secured at the ends by screws.
A suicient space is left between theI wire and the back of the picture to admit of the cord C passing between them.l The cord C isplaced in corresponding corrugations on each side of the `frame', and, when desired, may be placed higher or 1ower,by simply slip-v ping it between the frarneand the inner corrugations.
The picture-frame may thus be hung at any desired angle, as when the cord is attached nearer the centre of gravity, the frame will hang at a greater angle with the Wall, and when the' cord is raised, the angle will become less in proportion `to thepoint to'whichthe cord is raised.
It will be readily seen that this is an exceedingly simple, cheap,.and effective device, obviating the necessity of rings or staples, which admit of but one angie, and require to be moved when aedifferent one is desired.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by'Letters Patent, is
The corrugated wire B, when used in connection with the frame A and cord C, substantially as described andshown, for the purpose set forth.
This` specification signed and witnessed, this 3d day of May, 1869.I
