- My invention has for its object the production of'walking-sti lts for boys, that shall combine the three requisites, simplicity, durability, and cheapness; and to that end it consists in a standard turned from any suitable Wood, and a metallic step with a ring at its lower, edge through which the standard is inserted, a circular guard surrounding the step and a narrow plate running upward along the standard having slots through which screws are inserted into the standard for the purpose of adjusting the step at any required height upon the standard. It also consists in a spiral spring surrounding the standard, its lower end being held by a metallic ring secured to the standard, and its upper end receiving the weight applied to the step, thereby preventing the jar dated November 14, 1871 antedated November 6, 1871.

IMPROVEMENT IN STILTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,952,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN EMMERT, of Dunleith, in the county of J o Daviess and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stilts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the ac companying drawing forming part of this specification, in which the figure is a side elevation of my invention.
My invention has for its object the production of'walking-sti lts for boys, that shall combine the three requisites, simplicity, durability, and cheapness; and to that end it consists in a standard turned from any suitable Wood, and a metallic step with a ring at its lower, edge through which the standard is inserted, a circular guard surrounding the step and a narrow plate running upward along the standard having slots through which screws are inserted into the standard for the purpose of adjusting the step at any required height upon the standard.
