IMPROVEMENT IN WHIFELETREES.

To all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that I, NORMAN Wnsrcorr, of Morrisville, in the county of Madison, and State of New York,

. have invented a new and valuablellnprovement inWhifietrees; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specieation, and to the letters and figures of reterence marked thereon.

Figure 1, of the drawings, is a rear View of the whiiletree.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same.

My invention relates to whifdetrees; and it consists mainly in the construction and arrangement of novel ineans by which the tugs of the harness may be lengthened or shortened at the whiie'tree, instead of yvhitfletree, as shown, and is designed to serve as a guide and holder for the tug, as mentioned hereafter. I sometimes attach a staple and hook to the front side of 'the whietree, in the manner shown at the left-hand end of iig. 2, but I generally prefer to use the device shown on the right-hand end of said gure. To operate my whiftletree, I adj ust the screw in any of the holes a that may be required to give the necessary length to the tug, and then pass the hook through a suitable opening at the rear end of such tug.
