JAMESON HUNLOOK, OF WYOMING VALLEY, PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 99,196, dated January 25, 1870.
IMPROVED HOLDBACK. I'OR CARRIAG-ES.
' The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patentand making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMESON HUNLOCK, of Wyoming Valley, in the county of Luzerne, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Attach ment for Thills; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,
1 reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and
to the letters of reference marked thereon.
\ Drawing.
The figure of the drawing is a perspective view of my improvedattaelnnent, a portion being removed, thus showing a longitudinal central sectional view.
This invention has for its object to provide a thill with a spring, constructed and attached thereto in such a manner as to provide a convenient and ready means of attaching the same to the harness; and
It consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts of which it is composed, as will be more fully hereinafter described.
A is the thill.
B is 'a metal plate, having upon one end a hollow thilI.
O is the spring, which is fastened to the thill at one end by means of a screw, said spring having its fulcrum upon the hollow post B, thence passing forward and pressing snugly against the metal plate B.
D is an ordinary bolt which passes through the spring 0, hollow tube B, and thill A, the whole being firmly secured together by means of the screw-nut E.
e e are screws which serve to attach the plate B to the thill.
Having thus described my invention,
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure, is-
The spring 0, tube B, bolt D, and thill A, all arranged and constructed as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
Signed at Frenchtown, this 25th day' of November,
