5M@ @Z0/mma@ y UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY D. PAGE, OF MORENCI, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN REIN-HOLDERS.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY D. PAGE, of Morenci, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in ReiirHoldei-s 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and iignres of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a longitudinal section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a face vieW of the same.
This invention has relation to an improved reinholding attachment for harness; and the novelty consists in its -novel construction ofthe base-- nates a ilat metallic spring, rigidly secured at one end, by a rivet, b, Within a recess formed in a projection or shoulder, b', ot' the plate A. The other end of the spring fits in a similar recess formed in a shoulder, b, and is slightly curved to form a thumb-piece, c. Underneath the spring is a cavity, D, formed by the shoulders I) b, and y adapted to receive'the rein, to which it allows sutcient movement in the Work of guiding the horse. rlhe rein is inserted by being pressed between the loose end of the spring and the head of the plate, the latter being slightly beveled to form a mouth. rlhe recesses in which the spring rests prevent it from turning.
I claim as my invention- The rein-holder herein described, consisting of the plate A having the longitudinally-recessed shoulders b I1, and rein-cavity D, and of the straight spring B adapted thereto, all constructed and arranged as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
