Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MYRON H. DEN SMQRE, OF SHICKSHINNY, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF, MILTON J SNYDER, AND AARON BRIGGS, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN TRACE-BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 113,406, dated April 4, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MYRON H. DENsMoRn, of Shickshinny, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trace-Buckles for Harnesses; and I hereby declare the folof an extra-flanged plate, which may be used in lieu of the flanged plate shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
My invention relates to an improvement in trace-buckles for harness; and consists in combining a flanged plate provided with lips with the frame of a buckle provided with inclined guides, and arranging them in such a manner that the lips on the flanged plate partially inclose the inclined guides upon the upper side of the frame of the buckle, so that when the tug is inserted in the frame the flanged plate actsas a wedge, and prevents the tug from being withdrawn until the pressure of the plate is removed.
In the drawing, a is the frame of the buckle. b are loops for the back-strap and belly-band. c is the loop for the breeching, and d the loop for that portion of the tug which fastens t0 the hame. e is the plate, having the flanges f and g and the lips h. z i are the inclined guides, upon which the lips h h slide. 76 is the main portion of the tug. l is that portion which is secured to the hame. m is an extra flanged plate, having the lips h struck up from or cast upon the plate itself, while the lips 71. of the plates e are struck up from or cast upon flanges on the sides of the plate 6. Either style may be used.
The tug 7c is inserted beneath the plate 0 at the small end of the buckle, and when drawn upon the flanged plate 0, sliding upon the guides 1', acts as a Wedge upon the tug k, and prevents it from being withdrawn from the frame.
The buckle may be cast or struck up from sheet metal.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I The plate 0, provided with the flanges f and g and the lips h, in combination with the frame 01, having the inclined guides i, all constructed as described,'for the purpose hereinbet'ore set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing invention as above described I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2d day of February, 1871.
MYRON H. DENSMORE.
