Toall whom it may concern Be it known that I, J oHN H. ATWATER, of Oshtcrno, in the county of Kalamazoo, in the I,St-ate of Michigan, have invented, a new and improved-Drawing-Knife; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being ing the right-hand handle into the lefthand, and inversely.

My invention consists of a blade, A, sharpened in different bevels, as shownby the cross-section, Fig. II.

Thereis a prolongation on each end, provided with four projections, B, 0,1), and E,vand connected at the extremities by hinge-joints, with two handles, F and G. 'Ihese arey allowed to swing through an angle of' one hundredrand eighty degrees, but are hindered by the projections B, C, I), andl E, from surpassing this angle. v

VThus the extreme positions are'represented in Figs. I and V The object of this, my invention, is to furnish a drawing-knife, which willdispense with the use of two or more knives where dierent bevels are wanted.

The blade being properly sharpened, this knife containsffour different bevels, all-of which may be` used either by Vreversing the knife in the hinges, or by pass- As this knife will be, if at all, but a tride'rnore expensive than others, it presents the double advantage of economy and of greater simplicity.
