The invention relates to wearing: apparel, and its object is to provide it new end iniproved skirt arranged to properly nnd neeu r hely lit women having dili'ereut sized waists, at the some time insuring the proper hang of the garment.
The invention consists of novel lectures nnd parts and combinations of the some, as will be. more fully described herehml'ter and then pointed out in the claim.
A'priictieal embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drznvings forming a port of th', specification, in which similar characters ol' reference indicate corresponding ports in all the views.
Figure 'l is it perspective view of the improvement; Fig. L? is :1 rear elevation ol' the some in open position; Fig. 3 is 11, like view olthe some shmviug the elastic stretched.
The body A of the skirt is prel'eriibly l'orlned ol non-elastic material and has on upper phiited portion A secured by stitches B to an elostie \rnist bond t, the attachment ol' the phiited portion A to the waist band (.7 being preferably at the inner side of the waist bond at the lower portion thereof. The ph'tits ol the plnited portion A" prelerably increase in number from the trout oi the garment to the sides or top portions and the book of the garment, and which buck prw 'vided with the usual placket l). Now by the zirrinigemeut deserihml the \vnist band (I normally tits at thin-waisted person, but in case the skirt is for use by a. larger-waisted person the elastic band C readily gives or stretches and with it the plnited portion A, that is, the ,plaits open up more or less according to l in number toward the rear of the. body.
the size of the persons Waist. The front portion of the body only requires large or no plaits at all, as the increase in the size of the persons waist is accommodated or compensated for by the skirt stretching along the side or top iortious and the buck or placket portion ol the. skirt.
In the nuinui'aeture of the skirt described, the waist band is held in a stretched position and the body A held with its upper non-plnited portion on the stretched waist band, and then the said ports are sewed together (see Fig. 3), and when theelsstic waist bond (.1 now emit-roots and returns to its nornuil condition then it 'eontmcts the upper portion of the body A, thus forming or gathering the upper body portion into phiits, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
iiy the nrmngement described e. skirt is formed eupnble of properly fitting persons having diil'erent sized waists, at the sumslime insuring the proper hang f the garment.
Although We have describe improve ment as it skirt it evident. that the impro ement is nniiniy intended for underskirts or pettieonts, but nnty also be used on the outer or dress skirt.
