ALBERT PARADIS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHIRT-SLEEVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 11, 1910 Application filed July 7, 1909. Serial No. 506,272.
' To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ALBERT PARADIS, a. citi- Zen of .the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain 1 new and useful Improvements in Shirt- Sleeves; and do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains' to make and i use the same.
My invention relates to shirts and particularly to the sleeves thereof. v
The object of the invention is to provide a shirt having a short sleeve and a detachable long-sleeve upon which the cuff is supported. A further object of the invention is to support a sleeve ofthis type adj ustably upon the shirt whereby the shirts having a certain collar-band may be adapted for persons hav ing different lengths of arms.
, A still further object of the invention is the provision of a shirt of this character in which the outer-sleeve may be removed with the cufl" upon it, so that the user may work i in the short sleeve, which is permanently secured to the shirt, during the day and place the long sleeve upon the shirt after work, so
that the cufi's' will present a neat appearance projecting below the coat and the long sleeves will surround the entire length of the short sleeves and thereby protect the upper arm and shoulders of the wearer.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain'novel features of construction, combination and arrangements of parts as will be more fully described and particularly pointed 'out in the appended claim.-
' In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation connecting stud 5. The attachment consists of a pair of sleeves 6, having cults 7 ,mounted thereon and each sleeve provided with an arm-hole 8, of suflicien't size to make the sleeve adjustable as will hereinafter be described. The upper portion of the sleeve is provided with a projectingtab or extension 9, in which is formed a. button-hole 10,
ada ilted toreceive the stud 5. The stud maybe p aced in any of the button-holes 4, and thus a Wide range of adjustment is assured. In use, the sleeve 6, is worn with the shirt when desired and removed by simply disengaging the tab 9, from the stud 5.
It will readily be seen that when the tab 9 is connected with the stud the long sleeves are secured to the shirt so that they completely cover and surround the short sleeves, whereby the shoulder and upper arm of the wearer are perfectly protected.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be -resorted to without departing from the'principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus I claim is-- A shirt comprising'a'body havin a plurality of button-holes formed in he yoke thereof, a stud adapted to enter one of saiddescribed my invention, what holes, .short sleeves sewed on said shirt, long sleeves having enlarged arm-holes, and an extension tab'secured to the upper portion of the long sleeves and 'rovided with a button-hole to receive sai stud whereby the long sleeves may be adjustably secured to the shirt over and surrounding the entire length of the short sleeves.-
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALBERT PARADIS.
