Description

No. 884,134. f PATENTED APR. 7, 1908.,
F. A. DB GRAW.
LOOSE LEAF BINDER.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 31, 119,07.
FRANK ALLEN DE GRAW, OF CLIFTON SPRINGS, NEW YORK.
LOOSE-LEAF BINDER.
Specification of Letters Petent.
Patented April 7, 1908.
Application filed August 31, 1907. Serial No. 390,921.
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, FRANK ALLEN DE GRAW, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clifton Springs, in the county of Ontario and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Loose-Leaf-Binders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a temporary loose leaf binder.
he invention has for its object the provision of means for easily assembling a number of leaves within the cover, the cover being extensible to allow the insertion of a various number of leaves.
Figure 1 is a perspective viewof my cover. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the binder complete, and Fig. 3 is a similar view to Fig. 2, showing a larger number of leaves within the cover.
The cover is made from a single piece of leather, cloth or paper, and is adapted to be folded at or near its center to form the two sides.
In. the drawings A and B show the sides of the cover. The side A is rovided with a notch C on each edge and t e-side with a plurality of notches D on each ed e.
E represents the leaves of or inary construction each being provided with notches near one end.
F represents an elastic band or tape adapted to hold the cover and leaves in position.
In assembling the binder the cover is folded at or near the center and the leaves inserted with their notches in alinement with those of notches in both the cover and leaves thus locking the leaves against withdrawal.
To insert more leaves the elastic band is removed and the cover folded so as to bring the ,next set of notches on the edge of side B in alinement with those of side A; the new leaves are then inserted and the band again applied. 4 v
To allow for the extension of the cover and in order to have the leaves always under the cover the side B may be somewhat longer than A so'that when the cover is extended to its fullest capacity the edges willbe of the same length.-
Having described my invention what I claim as new is Y An extensible binder of the class described made from a single piece of material adapted to be folded at or near the center to form the two sides, one side being provided with a single notch on each edge and the other side having a plurality of notches on each edge,
and means for engaging the notches for holding leaves in position between the sides.
11 testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
