COMBINED STRAP AND STRAP LOOP. APPLICATION FILED MAR.16, 1907.

COMBINED STRAP AND STRAP-LOOP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 11, 1908.
Application filed March 16. 1907- erial No. 362,726.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, l/VILLIAM PETER GELABERT, of Fulton, in the county of Callaway and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Strap and Strap-Loops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the arts to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in harness and more particularly to an improved double loop and means for attaching the same to a strap,-the object of the invention being to provide simple and efficient means for securing a double loop to reversible straps of different thicknesses.
With this object in view the invention consists in certain novel features of con,-
struction and combinations and arrangements of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of my improvement and Fig. 2 is a side view. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view.
A represents a buckle which may be of any desired form or construction. The tongue a extends through a hole I) in the strap to which the buckle is attached, the end B of the strap being looped back upon the body of the stra B.
A loop is constructed with a cross bar 0 which has formed integral therewith a perforated plate 0 which projects forwardly from said cross bar and hence forwardly from the body of loop C. Through the plate 0 is inserted a rivet F which passes through the two thicknesses B B of the looped end of the strap, and serves to firmly secure them together and form a neat and flattened looped strap end for securing the buckle against displacement. By using different lengths of rivets, the loops may be secured to very thin or very thick straps, and in each and all cases produce a neat and compact looped end for the buckle. The outer end of the loop is combined with outwardly curved arms E E, which are united by a cross bar E forming a loop of suflicient depth bethe perforated plate 0 will preferably be placed against the under side of the strap as shown in the drawing, but with a strap, of moderate thickness, the plate 0 may be placed against the top face of the strap, while with straps of double thickness, said plate will preferably be inserted between the overlying portions of the strap.
The opposite side of the loop is furnished with two projecting arms (1, d which are connected by a cross bar F thereby forming a closed loop for the passage of two thicknesses of the strap.
By means of my improvement I obtain a combined loop and buckle which may be readily applied to straps of varying thickness and will insure a neat flattened strap loop for retaining the buckle in place and which will afford ample room for the folds of a strap of varying thicknesses.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
1. A strap loop having a cross bar at each end, a plate integral with one of the end bars and projecting forwardly therefrom, said plate having a rivet hole, and a rivet passing through said hole for securing two members of a looped strap at a point beyond one end of the body of the loop.
2. The combination with a buckle and a looped strap engaging a member of the buckle, of a loop having a cross bar at each end, the end bar of the loop nearest the buckle having an integral plate projecting forwardly therefrom toward the buckle, and a rivet passing through said forwardly projecting loop and the two members of the strap loop which engages the buckle.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM PETER GELABERT.
