KEEPER FOR THE LOOSE ENDS OF STRAPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,763, dated October 23, 1888.

To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY SHERMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Luctor, in the county of Phillips and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Keepers for the Loose Ends of Straps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to keepers for the loose ends of straps, as the tug strap, the stirrupstraps, and other similar parts of harness, having for its object to provide asimple, cheap, and easily-applied device which will securely hold the strap in place; and it consists in a certain novel construction and arrangements, fully set forth hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of a keeper embodying niyinvention applied in the operative position to a strap. Fig. 2 is a similar view thereof detached-from the strap. Fig. 3 is a view of a slightly-modified form.
Referring to the drawings, A designates the improved keeper, which is struck from a sin gle sheet of metal, and consists of the baseplate B and the rectangular loop 0, arranged thereon. This loop comprises the sides 0 a, perpendicular to the base-plate, and the inwardextending fingers D D, which meet at their inner ends and are secured together by solder, rivets, or other suitable means. passed rivets or their equivalents to affix the keeper to the strap.
Fig. 3 shows a modified form in which the 3 5 iuward extending fingers do not meet and are allowed to remain free this being in some cases preferable. The apertured ears may be omitted and an aperture in lieu thereof may be formed in the base-plate to receive the selo curing-rivet or equivalent device.
This invention is simple and will hold the end of the strap securely in place without chafing or cutting it, and it is easily applied to the strap.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The herein described keeper for the loose ends of straps, consisting of a metal baseplate, B, having the integral perforated ears E E 50 above and below, and the integral rectangular loop at right angles to said ears, which loop is composed of a portion of the base-plate, the sides O, and the inwardly-standing triangular fingers D, secured together at their ends by 55 rivets or otherwise, substantially as specified.
