HIP-STRAP ATTACHMENT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 433,602, dated August 5, 1890. Application filed April 23, 1890. Serial No. 349,105. (llo model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM ROTTGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clinton, in the county of Henry and State of Mis souri, have invented 'certain new and useful Improvements in Hip-Strap Attach ments; and I do herebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention consists in a new and improved hip-strap attachment, which will save leather and time in making hip-straps, and which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my attachment buckled in position to a hip-strap. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the attachment removed from the strap, and Fig. 3 is a central vertical sectional view of the attachment.

The same letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Referring to the several parts by letter, A

formed at one end with the solid projection or tang A. This projection A is flat and much thinner than the metal of the buckleframe, forming the shoulder a. I then form a loop B, preferably of a thin piece of sheet metal, and the projection A at the end of the buckle-frame is then riveted between the ends of this metal loop B, as clearly shown. The

shoulders a prevent the extremities of the loop ends from projecting out beyond the width of the buckle-frame.

In use the lower end of the hip-strap C is buckled in the buckle A, when the trace D will run through and be supported in the loop B, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. The metal loop B is preferably covered with leather for use.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection With the accompanying drawings, the construction, manner of using, and advantages of my invention will be readily understood. It will be seen that my new and improved hip-strap attachment is very simple, strong, and durable in construction, that it can be manufactured at a small cost, and that it will save both leather and time in making hip-straps.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In an attachment for hip-straps, the combination of the buckle A, formed at the lower end of its frame, with the thin flattened tang A, leaving the parallel shoulders a a, on opposite sides of the tang, and the thin metallic loop B, having its ends riveted on either side of the tang A with their extremities fitting against the shoulders a a, substantially as set forth.
