HOSE-SUPPORTER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming-part of this specification.

My invention relates to means for supporting hose, and is more particularly adapted for the use of children and young girls, and it consists oi'a one piece combina tion shoulder brace and hose supporter, whereby the stockings may be suitably supported at the same time that the shoulder brace is held locked in proper position so that when adjusted, the shoulder brace portion cannot shift out of place.

One of the principal objects of my invention is to provide a construction that may be manufactured from a single piece of webbing, without the necessity of sewing, or stitching together the various parts of the supporter, and in which the webbing may be quickly and easily adjusted for the proper size or convenience of the user, and then locked in position by the use of a single buckle of novel and improved construction.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved shoulder brace and hose supporter. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of my improved fastening construction for the webbing. Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section through one of the supporting loops. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the fastening device for the webbing with the webbing removed.

The hose supporter is constructed from a single piece of webbing, one end of this webbing forms the loop 1,

which is held by the buckle 2, the webbing their passes down through the metal loop 3, to which are secured the hose attachments 4-4, and up through this loop across the shoulder of the user at 5, around under the arm at 6, horizontally across the back at 7, through the loop 1, under the arm of the user over the shoulder at 8, down through the metal loop 9, to which the other pair of hose attachments l0-10 are secured, and thence up and around the body portion at 6, to form the loop 11 secured by the buckle 12. The buckle for holding the three portions of the web where they cross in the middle of the back is made up of the base plate 13, with the lugs 1414, in which is pivoted the plate 15 carrying the serrated extension 16 for securing the fabric.

The base plate 13 is provided with the slots 1718,

and the horizontally disposed web 7 is passed through these slots, so that the web rests on the plate 13. The portions of the webbing 1.9 and 20, which are passed diagonally through the buckle rests on the portion of the horizontal web 7, which is passed through the slots in the base plate of the buckle, so that when the plate 15 is turned down to clam p the we bbing to the base plate, all of the parts of the webbing which cross at the middle of the back will be tightly clamped and locked together. This feature of locking together the portions of the web where they cross in the back is a very important and essential feature of my invention, inasmuch as it enables me to adjust the webbing for the size of the user, and then to firmly lock in position the various parts, so that when in use there is no liability of the buckle getting out oi place. If the parts were not locked together where they cross at the back, there would be a marked tendency for the buckle to slip and alter its position when the device was in use, and the shoulder brace construction would tend to draw more tightly from one side or the other, altering the [it and rendering the supporter llllCOll'lfOlhillJlQ for the user.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a hose supporter, the combination, with attaching devices for securing the supporter to the hose, of a single continuous strip 01. webbing material extending from said attaching devices across the back, and engaging in front of each shoulder to form shoulder braces. with the oppo site ends of the webbing looped loosely over the shoulder brace portion under each arm, and a fastening device for securing and locking together the three portions of the webbing which cross in the back.

2. In a hose supporter, the combination, with attaching devices for securing the supporter to the hose, of a single continuous strip of webbing material extending from said attaching devices across the back, and engaging in front of each shoulder to form shoulder braces, with the opposite ends of the webbing looped loosely over the shoulder brace portion under each arm, and a buckle provided with a base plate slotted to receive the transverse webbing, and having a locking plate pivoted thereon to engage simultaneously said transverse webbing and the two other portions where they cross at the back.

In a hose supporter having three portions of webbing crossing at the back, a buckle provided with a slotted base plate to receive one portion 01. said webbing and a hinged locking plate, between which and the base plate, the two other portions of the webbing pass, said locking plate having a serrated edge to lock simultaneously said three portions of the webbing together.
