HE NORRIS PETERS Co FHOTO'LITHI" WA:Hl '/'.-70.'l u
MAY I. FOSTER, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Application filed June 1, 1912.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MAY 1. Fos'rnR a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to hose supporters, and more particularly to the class of clasps for hose supporters.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporter in which the clasps thereon are concealed from view,
and are prevented from rubbing on the skin or clothes of the user, thus avoiding damage to the clothes when the supporter is used.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a supporter wherein the clasps will be covered and shielded so as to be invisible, yet capable of being easily fastened to the hose or other article to be supported thereby.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a supporter which is simple in construction, reliable and efficient in its purpose. and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts. as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a plan view of a hose supporter constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view looking toward the opposite side of the supporter from that shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view through one of the clasps. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on the line 44 of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the plate containing the keyhole-shaped slot.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, the hose supporter comprises an elastic band or web 5 which may be of any desired width and length, and is attached at one end to the looped portion 6 of a safety pin 7 of the ordinary well-known construction, which permits it to be fastened to the corset or other waist garment, while the opposite end Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 5, 1915.
Serial No. 701,020.
of the band or web 5 is trained through an adjusting slide 8 carrying a toothed locking bar 9, and in the slide is engaged a clasp carrying strap 10 which is preferably constructed from non-elastic material, but possessing the requisite flexibility, the same being folded medially of its length, and at its fold point, the said strap 10 is engaged in the slide 8 and fastened by means of the toothed bar 9, the ends of the strap 10 being folded and secured at 11 to form loops 12, one stretch 13 of each loop 12 being trained through bail extensions 14 of key-hole slotted plates 15 engageable by said stud members of hose engaging tabs, presently described.
Secured to the looped ends 12 of the strap 10 are flexible tabs 16, on the free ends of which are suitably secured the stud members 17, the studs of which are adapted to engage in the key-hole shaped slots in the plates 15 for the fastening of the hose to the said strap 10, the slotted plates 15 and the stud members 17 cotiperating with each other to form clasps for the fastening of the hose to the supporter. It will be evi dent that the clasps, when engaged with the hose, will be invisible and shielded. by the looped ends 12 and the tabs 16, thereby protecting the skin or clothing from direct contact with either of the plates 15 of the said stud members 17, thereby avoiding damage to the skin or the clothes, when the hose supporter is being worn.
lVhat is claimed is:
The combination with a plate having a key-hole shaped slot, and a stud member detachably engageable within the slot, of a double looped web. one stretch of one loop being engaged with the plate and one stretch of the other loop being engaged with the stud member, the said plate and stud member being formed with slots near opposite ends. the stretches of the loops be ing threaded through the slots in the plate and stud member so that both stretches of each loop will overlie the, outer faces of the plate and stud members respectively.
In testimony whereof I afhx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MAY 1. FOSTER.
Witnesses:
PHILIP C. BOARDMAN, GOLDA BUCKNER.
