citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folder Hooks for Hose-Supporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and' exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in hose-supporters, but particularly to a simple and novel hook for use in supporters made from a single band of elastic web, so that the leg-encircling loop and the Vertically-depending portion of the band to which the clasp is attached may be formed without any undue strain upon the edge of the webbing; and with these ends in view my invention consists in the details of construction hereinafter fully explained, and then recited in the claims.

In order that those skilled in the art to which my invention appertains may fully understand its construction and operation, I will describe the same in detail, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective showing my invention in operative position on a garter; Fig. 2, a detail perspective of the folder-hook, and Fig. 3 an edge elevation thereof to show the offset point.

folder-hook, which is attached to the other end of the web, is slotted, as at 3, for the reception of the webbing. From its slotted end the hook curves downward to a point below the lower ends of .the webbing-slots, and thence extends upward and outward, as at 4, at an angle of, say, forty-five degrees, to a point about level with the top of the slots, thereby forming a folding face for the band. At its end is formed a small back- Wardly-projecting hooked point 5, which is deflected slightly outward from the plane of 5o the body of the hook, as seen at Fig. 3.

In adjusting a garter provided with my improved hook the webbing is passed horizontally about the leg, and is carried over the hook, and then downward therefrom to the clasp, either from the rear to front, as shown at Fig. 1, or from front to rear, as will be readily understood. The clasp may be fastened to the stocking before or after the adjustment of the band and hook. The webbing lies smoothly over the inclined inner face, of the hook, and the strain upon the web isdistributed in great measure over its entire width, instead of drawing upon one edge, as would be the case with a hook which engaged the edge of the webbing at right angles.

The inclined edge of the hook is so disposed relative to the web-attaching slots that the band will at the point where it passes over the hook be in substantially the same horizontal plane as the slots and the end of the web attached thereto. The hooked point 5 prevents the band from slipping upward out of engagement with the hook, and said point is deflected outward, so as tofacilitate the engagement of the band therewith, and also to keep said point from in any way injuring the person of the wearer.

I claim- 1. In a hose-supporter, the combination, with the band adapted toencircle the leg and having a clasp upon one end, of a folderhook having slots for the attachment of the band, the folder-face extending diagonally upward and outward from the plane of the bottom of the slots to the plane of the top of the slots, and the backwardly-turned point at the end of the hook, whereby the band, after passing around the leg in a horizontal 9o plane, may be extended downward at right angles for attachment to the stocking, substantially as set forth.
