Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 23, 1907.

To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, HARRY E. FELDMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Box-Lid Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a box lid holder andhas for its object to provide a device having means for holding a box lid, particularly a cigar box lid, open at different an gles to exhibit the goods contained in the box, and having a frame or case to receive a card having thereon the price or name of the cigars or other articles.
The device consists of a clip which is attached to the end of the box, which clip has a swinging arm provided with a notched slot to engage a pin on the end of the frame which is attached to the box lid.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure I is a perspective View of a cigar box with the holder attached. Fig. 2 is a perspective of the holder removed from the box.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 indicates the box and 7 the clip which fits over the edge of the end thereof. This clip is formed of sheet metal bent or folded to yieldingly embrace the box end when pushed down thereon. The swinging arm 8 is pivoted at one end to the outer fold of the clip as at 7, and the rear end of the clip has a stop 7 to prevent the arm falling below a convenient position when the lid is removed from the holder. At the other end the arm 8 is slotted longitudinally as at 9 and the upper edge of the slot is notched, as at 9.
The case or frame 10 has a bottom plate and edges ll turned up and over to retain a card having thereon printed or written matter to be exhibited, and the bottom plate is extended or recurved underneath as at 13 to form a clip to frictionally engage the box lid. A headed pin 11 projects from the end of the frame through the slot 9 and may be engaged in any one of the notches 9 to hold the lid at the desired inclination.
I claim:
A box lid holder comprising a frame for a card or the like, having a rear member forming-a clip to engage the box lid and also having a projecting pin at the edge, a. clip adapted to engage the end of the box, and an arm pivoted to the clip and having a slot through which the pin extends, with a series of notches in the edge thereof, in any one of which the pin may be engaged.
